Ocean Blue & Sand-Punta Cana

Recommended Posts

It is a photoshoot, usually the day after your wedding, where you and the husband wear your wedding attire in the ocean. I have seen some amazng pictures of brides in the water and laying in the sand, etc. I am assuming the salt water and sand literally trashes your dress. LOL. The more I think about it, the more I am on the fence. Cool pics but do I really want to do that? Here are some pics of a TTD:

Yeah same here, I really dont know if my FI will be into it either. LOL. And the extra cost of the package as well as paying for the photgrapher to come back on Ocean Blue property. I booked without it for now too. :-)

I'm also on the fence about it.  The photos are stunning, but since my mom paid for the dress, I'm not really a fan of the idea of 'trashing' it.  I'm actually considering getting one of the knock off dresses from China.  That way, I'm not trashing my actual dress...just a $150 knock-off.

Hey Ladies!!

Alicia- I love your barefoot sandal! You did a great job!

Jessica- your save the dates are awesome!! They really came out great and I bet your guest will be so excited when they receive them! I also love your wedding website. I used mywedding.com too but I only have bare bones on mine so far. I need to add so much stuff. Are you using a travel agent? I was so on the fence about that but I think I'm sticking to not using one.

I absolutely loved the TTD pictures posted on here in the past and booked them with HDC but agree that they aren't for everyone. If you read some past stories on here alot of brides say their dresses came out cleaner than they were after walking around the resort for the wedding! Just a thought.. I can't attest to it :)

Rebecca from Allurements by Rebecca is working on my boarding pass save the dates now. I'll post when they are complete but I saw a draft and they're amazing. I'm SO freakin excited!!

The honeywmoon sweet is no joke. I would say the Honey moon suite is close to double the price of a regular room.

Kristina- thanks.  There's still a lot of info I'd like to add to the website.  It's just a matter of finding the time to research.  I was thinking of doing some common Spanish phrases as well....let everyone get an early start on learning to say "I'd like a Pina Colada."  Lol

We aren't using a TA.  I spoke to one and got some preliminary info, but the rates that were offered through the TA were actually higher than what the average rates on the website were.  Plus, they wanted a $500 deposit to hold the room black, which seemed strange to me.  In the years that I worked in hotels and booked wedding blocks, we never asked for a deposit for them.  So, we're letting everyone book on their own.

Can't wait to see your STD's.  We're doing boarding pass invites, and I think we're going to end up doing those ourselves, since they can get a bit pricey.

Alicia those so cute. You made them? I am good with paper stuff and computer stuff but thread and beads? Not so much. I look forward to seeing what else you make. :-)

It's my intent to make some for myself, and my bridal party. Perhaps if I get REALLY ambitious I can make them for ALL of the females attending the wedding (using some more "budget friendly" beads of course for the rest of the guests....lol)

Excuse my "winter feet"...really need a pedicure now that it is spring, and flip-flop weather is coming!

What do you think?

The honeymoon suite prices do seem crazy! Especially because we're going for 2 weeks. I think we're booking a normal room and then trying to negotiate an upgrade once we're there- even if it's just for the second week or something. Honestly we spend so little time in our room that it seems like a waste to me. The only reason I really want it is for the getting ready pictures LOL.

That's exactly how I feel! The package prices elsewhere are so much less expensive! I'm just happy someone else agrees because I was starting to second guess myself because I felt like the only one! I think I have a list of spanish phrases saved on my pc.. I'll post at home if I still have it. That's another great idea for the website. Or even for a pre-travel or welcome letter!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
