Ocean Blue & Sand-Punta Cana

Recommended Posts

OK so I’m back from my trip. I was actually staying at the MeliaCaribe Resort because my best friend was getting married there. However I took the opportunity to go to Ocean Blue and Sand since that's where I'm getting married in February with God willing. Ok so here it goes the good and the bad,

1. I actually really liked the hotel. My fiancé actually liked MeliaCaribe a little better only because Melia is a more luxurious resort BUT Ocean Blue is more family oriented resort. Plus is a smaller hotel considering that it only has about 700rooms. SO it’s perfect for us.

2. I had a meeting schedule with my WC which when I arrived at the hotel was told that she has left, which didn't make sense to me since we were schedule for a meeting. well I found out that it was her last day there and that ADA would be my new coordinator however just to let you ladies know Ada is pregnant and is due in November so the WC for the day of my wedding is still unknown. .

I thought I had attached the ocean blue pictures on my USB but I didn’t. But I promise when I get home I will post the pictures.

I hope this helps a little if anyone has any questions please let me know.

Hi Ambeato,

Thanks for the info and about Ada being pregnant and due in November. That is disappointing as she has been great with me and answers my questions usually within the day. If anyone hears who the new co-ordinator is please post it here. I'm hoping they will inform us but you never know.

Can't wait to see your pictures.

  • 2 weeks later...

For any of the brides out there that were married @ Ocean -- did you book your trip with the honeymoon suite or did you ask for an upgrade when you got there? What are the odds that they won't upgrade you if you're getting married there? I don't think it's as busy for wedding as some of the other popular hotels like Excellence so I would think that the suite upgrade should be available??

What do you think?

We booked the honeymoon suite as we will be there during March break and expect it will be busy. We didn't want to take any chances of not being upgraded. Our rate is $1980 + 230 taxes= $2210 each. We figure this is our wedding week and we should be spoiled.

I definately recommend booking right away. There are only 24 honeymoon suites (I think?) on the whole resort on the Blue and Sand sides. They were completely full when we were there, and there were a few brides that were dissapointed they werent getting a suite, because they had waited.

Remember, for people like DH and I, we were there for 2 weeks, so we hogged the suite the whole time cheesy.gif

Hi Tracey,

When in March did you book? Maybe we'll be there at the same time. We will be there from March 12-19th.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
