Are you doing the beach or gazebo ceremony? I had chosen the beach, but am growing concerned as I've seen some of the strange photos that people have there :)

Hi Claire,
Congrats! You must be getting very excited!!! I know the feeling...!
We are having our ceremony under the gazebo as i think we will have a lot more privacy there. I have seen pictures of beach ceremonies and there are people sitting literally right beside your guests, on their beach chairs. The beach tends to get VERY busy! Have you seen the garden gazebo - it is quite pretty as well. There are a couple of them to choose from. Let me know if you would like me to send you pictures...
Just over two months to go!!
Are you bringing any of your own decor for the reception?

We had our wedding ceremony at the gazebo November 16, 2009. I am soo glad we had it there and not on the beach. There is absolutely NO privacy on the beach-people literally stand right next to the aisle! Plus, the gazebo makes it more formal/special.

I wouldn't be paying extra during the reception for drinks. It's an all-inclusive resort, for gosh sakes!!!! We had a private recption ($750USD) at the garden grille, and had all the drinks we could possibly consume until 10:30pm when the dinner ended. I guess if you want to stay at the restaurant after 10:30pm...but we all just headed up to the lobby bar to continue the party!

Melissa! So sorry - I've been a bad BDWer and didn't even see your message. I'm definitely getting excited now. Though I also have to admit, I've been taking a very laid-back approach to all of this.
I would love to see photos of the gazebos if you have them handy.
In terms of decorations, I have a few white paper lanterns that I bought from another BDWer - and that's it! I'm really determined not to fuss - I think it would just stress me out too much. I can't imagine doing all the work everyone on here is doing! Then again, it makes me feel like a real slug to not be doing all of it too wink.gif
A month to go for you. Ridiculous how time flies!!!

Hi, yes there is a minimum stay at the Dominican Republic for the weddings. I am scheduled to get married on a Saturday so we are arriving on Wed...That day we meet with the wedding coordinator who was Cynthia but I guess now is Jasmin/Patricia? and she is going to sit us down with books to finalize all the details. We also will be meeting with Pastor York to discuss wedding ceremony details. The Reception is at the Garden Grilll which I hear the food is great!!

i am also getting married at the gazebo and agree 100% about NOT getting married on the beach.

Thanks for the great input on the whole what to do after the 10:30 mark. I am also having a private dinner at the garden grill, and was a little torn up on what to do afterwards.

the lobby is a great idea.

do you remember what you had for your dinner? the menu?

thanks again....! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
