Hey,

I'm also thinking of doing this - we just don't have enough guests coming to really make it worthwhile to have a private event.

I'll be interested in seeing responses to this question too.

Just curious though - did you know when you started planning that you were going to have a budget issue? Or is this something new that has cropped up? I just ask because I'm wondering that if you knew in advance that money was tight - why would you choose a Palace resort to have the wedding? Yes they are gorgeous, but they are also expensive!!

We also considered Palace resorts - but to save ourselves and our guests we went to Cuba. I still think our wedding will be great, though.

No offense intended - I'm just curious. :)

no offence taken! i was being totally deluded when i booked the wedding, on our budget. as it's getting closer i've realised that unfortunately money doesn't grow on tree's! we considered borrowing money, but i just can't justify getting into debt for one day (even if it is the most special day of our lives). I did book on a impulse. loooking back i would of done a LOT more research, but that's just me! too late now! haha!

I think that there are lots of brides who choose to not have a private event due to budget. One suggestion might be to have your dinner in one of the restaurants at the resort but inquire about the possibilty of renting out a pool or beach bar for afterwards for a few hrs - you could have your cake cutting, speeches and dancing there. Still a cost incurred I realize but not as much as doing the whole thing private. Good Luck!

I didn't have a private event and we had an awesome time. There were 9 of us and since we were such a small group the hotel surprised and gave us our own little dining room in one of the restaurants. Everyone ordered what they wanted and seemed happy. Afterwards we went to one of the bars that had a covered patio. There was barely anyone there so we grabbed one of our ipod docking stations and started our own party right there lol. I didn't have anything planned, we just went with the flow and it was amazing :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
