Is 15 Months Too Early For STD's?

Recommended Posts

We gave 2 years notice (we are half way) and we are so amazed at how many of our guests are savin/have plans in place/have already booked their leave at work!

We were actually shocked that so many people are actively planning to come (we are still too far out to book mind you, so we will see when its time to put $$ on the line) but everyone has said that they were able to put all plans in place to come BECAUSE we gave them so much notice. Our invites are going out in January (10 months beofre the wedding) then as soon as people book we are sending them a 'thankyou note' and three months out we will send a little reminder to anyone that hasn't just in case they forgot :)

Thank god for Vistaprint!

Our wedding is also at Tensing Pen, Nov 2010. I just ordered our save the dates and plan to send them out mid Jan. I personally think you should wait a few months before sending them out unless you are absolutely sure who you are inviting. I know our guest list has changed by a few people since we booked in Sept! We told all the people we definitely wanted there as soon as we booked and the rest of the guests will get their STD's next month.

I definitely know that I want to get married at Tensing Pen in April of 2011. People are already asking when they can put their deposits down! Especially since tax season is coming up (I know most of my family and friends do their taxes in January), I will be sending out my STD's next month while everyone has a little money in their pockets.

It's never too early- but don't be surprised if people want to do their own thing.

When we announced in December 2008 that we were getting married in October 2010 in Jamaica, people complained that they couldn't afford the trip. So, our wedding planner, DF and I decided to send out the invites in Sept 2009 with a detailed payment plan (Approx $75 a month) for those that have difficulty paying for the wedding in one lump sum.

Well guess what- people have decided they they will wait last minute and pay the lump sum!

This aggravated me because if this was their intention all along, then we could have wait until January 2010 to confirm everything/negotiate better prices for a October 15, 2010 in Riu MoBay.

So... don't be surpised if people do that. Just try and go with the flow.....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
