I travelled with Sunwing and split up the decor and OOT bag items among my immediate family members. Regardless, I ended up spending almost $700 on extra weight charges! $20/kilo adds up very quickly. No one asked me for receipts, either in Toronto or in Punta Cana. My advice - if you have a lot of items, split it up amongst MANY of your guests so as to lighten the load. There isn't anything I regret bringing, and my guests loved the OOT bags, I just wish I had split up the load better.

Lol - that is exactly what I was thinking but at $20.00/kilo (2.2lbs) I could see how it would add up fast.

I have already started to let people know that I will be "using them". Also for carryon's the often don't weigh our here, so you may have a little more wiggle room.

I am shipping my stuff down ahead of time to the resort. It was suggested by my WC, I'm getting married at a Dreams resort, so that might be resort specific. When I asked how to ship it, they just told me to make sure it was "packed well" because customs can be tricky.

I have also heard that there are problems in customs not just because of the content (i.e. sand, shells, etc) but that most of the time it is multiples. I was told to but a note on top of the items inside the package saying "not for resale / wedding decorations". I'll be adding my receipts into the boxes I ship, too. Can't be too careful!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
