Hi Everyone!

I just recently got engaged and I'm flying to Akumal/Tulum in 2 weeks for my scouting mission! I've narrowed it down to 2 possibilities:

1) Jennifer of Turtle Bay doing allthe wedding planning and having the wedding at a private villa south of Akumal

or

2) Ana y Jose Beach Club.

The wedding date is March 19, 2011, so excited!

I'm strongly leaning toward Ana y Jose, but have lots of questions. Who did all of you use for bands or djs? Jackie at Ana y Jose says she doesn't have any demos to give me!  Did any of you have a good or bad experience with music at your weddings? Any other tips for the beach club? If any of you got married at or had guests stay at Ana y Jose Hotel, what was your room rate for guests?

How was Los Lirios for those of you who had guests stay there?

What hotels did your guests stay at and what was your room rate? (We are inviting about 150 but I'm sure a lot less will come. The older generations need a more upscale hotel and the younger ones need a more affordable hotel, but all of us need A/C....)

Rehearsal dinner options for a fun beach party?

thanks ladies!!!

Hey alissrose,

I just saw this.  I can't answer many of your questions but I can a few.

I am not getting married at Ana y Jose but from what I have heard, Jackie handles everything and if you use vendors outside of what she recommends you pay a fee.   But I have also heard that the people she recommends are good.  This is all hearsay.

Some of my guests are staying at Ana y Jose in the off season (Sept) and the cheapest room is $250/night.  I think the range is $250-375.  I have not stayed at Los Lirios, but have read really bad reviews on trip advisor of that hotel.  Cabanas Tulum is adding a/c currently if you only want hotels with a/c.  In March, you should be fine without though. I was there in Feb and it was even a little chilly at times.  Myself and all my guests are staying at at a place with no A/c in 2 weeks and I will let you know how that goes.  There is lots of hotel help on trip advisor.

Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
