Maggie Sottero Sizing - really true to fit?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I am still pretty new to the forum and tried searching 'true to fit maggie sottero' but nothing came up so I am hoping that this question wasn't asked already...

I went in to try on Wedding Dresses today and almost cried when she the sales lady) told me I would need a size 12 or 14 when normally I wear a size 8.

Not sure what brands I was trying on, but I really have my eye on the Maggie Sottero Destination dress style AD3300 and wanted to know how Maggie dresses fit.

Reason I am asking is that the closest place that sells the destination collection is 5 hours away but the bridal shop in town that carries the couture collection would be able to order it in for me. So, i was hoping to just figure out my size and then order it.

I am so scared of ordering something and thinking it may not look right or fit right.

I am also hoping that since it has a corset back that it will give a little bit more room to play with.

Soo question...Maggie Sottero - True to Fit?

Suggestions and/or comments greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I tried on the Maggie Sottero Reese, and I am usually a size 6. She put me in a size 10 and it was snug.... so I wouldn't get too disappointed. I was in total 'sticker shock' about the sizes of wedding dresses too!

Isn't it funny-- even though it's just a number, it can still bother you!!

And personally--- I would probably just drive the 5 hours to get an idea on fit, then order it from the shop near you-- just to be safe and lessen potential alterations. That's just me though- I had to drive 2 hours to purchase, fit, alter my dress! Bring a friend with you, make a mini road trip of it! Then you won't be so stressed w/ anticipation...

Beautiful choice!

Those size estimates seem a bit bit but the nice thing about the dress you've picked is that it laces up. It's pretty forgiving if you're off a size. That being said I would make sure when you order you are measured by a bridal consultant to ensure the best fit.

Good luck!

Im a size 4-6 depending on brands etc. and I tried on the 10 Maggie's. Although they were all still very big on me she recommended me getting the 8 due my back measurement. So i wouldn't get disappointed. Remember wedding dress sizes are very different to standard clothes. Alot of formal wear and wedding attire sizing runs very small. cheesy.gif Don't worry yourself about it! Also like some of the ladies said if its a lace up it usually is very forgiving. But make sure you get measured by a professional before placing your order for any dress :).

GO TRY IT ON! i am getting a maggie dress rd1044, and i ordered it in a 10 which is also bigger than my regular clothing sizes. but like some other girls have suggested its a good idea to go try one on. i know the bridal shop i ordered from will only give 50% of my money back if i ordered it and didnt like. so, honestly this is one of the biggest days of your life, and it would be a shame if it didnt look good on you.....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
