The whole process cost $110 including the officiant and marriage license fees..... I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get married before they go and it doesn't take away from the wedding. We don't even feel married!
Too funny! We are planning on doing the exact same thing (was FI's idea). Where did you get married? In the courthouse? We want to keep it low key, but also thought about doing something super cheesy and Vegas-y.

That's exactly what we did, and I promise that getting legally married doesn't retract from the "specialness" you are to feel on your "big" special ceremony. :) I was worried for a long time, but it worked out perfect, because it kinda left less steps to deal with once we actually got to mexico. Anyways, whatever you decide will be just fine, and will work out great I'm sure!!

I think it will let us enjoy our time there more than having to deal with bloodtests and paperwork.
I saw that you said you were getting legally married in DC. I'm from the DC area as well. I've been looking into exactly where we should have the legal ceremony done. I don't know if you know or if it's a concern but in DC you have to wait 10 days from the time the licence is applied for until you can have the ceremony. In PG county, you have to wait 2 days but in Arlington county, you can get married the same day you get your license. I think that's what we are leaning towards.

Funny enough we literally got the certificate ($60) walked out the door and saw an ad for $55 including the price of the witness on a sign across the street and we said "Ok works for me" to each other and walked into the office and it was all over in 10 min. flat. We high fived each other once we got back to the sidewalk and gave each other a kiss then walked to freemont street and gambled and had drinks! Couldn't have been easier!

I am so jealous! I dont think a trip to Vegas is in our plans before the wedding, but that sounds super easy. My FI and I don't live in the same place right now and all of the 2 - 4 day waiting periods are making this difficult.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
