Hi,

Can anyone recommend or does anyone have any experience with any Montreal TA's? I have tried to contact TA Lindsay via here but I guess she takes a while to respond.... We'd like to get some quotes/ advice regarding costs, etc but not familiar with any TA's in Montreal.

Thanks in advance!

We have decided to go with someone from Club Voyage because they gives Airmiles. :)

What we did is call bunch of travel agencies from the Montreal area, asking to speak with a TA that had experience with destination weddings. We aslo asked that they be bilingual, as my family & friends are francophones while FI's family & friends are anglophones. It took a while before we finally found someone that filled those two criterias, as well as seemed nice and positive enough on the phone while not seeming to be "trying too hard".

I'm also looking into Mtl TA's. Right now I've only contacted one TA to start with since she works for a GF of mine who happens to be an event planner and owns the company. I know how meticulous she is in planning events so I trust that her staff works the same way. So far I have to say she really knows the Cancun/Riviera Maya area well so that's helps in making a final choice of resort.

I like the idea of getting Airmiles w/ Club Voyage (Thanks RonNMel!) and our families are also mainly French-speaking so it's important to us as well.

I've found a few names also in some local wedding magazines (WeddingBells, Mariage Québec and Elegant Wedding). I plan on checking some TAs at the Salon Marions Nous (Jan. 9-10).

One name that keeps coming back in these magazines is Helena Travel Helena Travel

But I have no references.

I'll let you know when I've booked my TA.

Yeah, I've seen that Helena Travel thing, but my gut feeling tells me she must be quite expensive. haven't actually tried to contact her though, so don't really know for sure.

We're pretty sure we've found our TA. She has been to Cuba 9 times, so that's good that she has experience there. The best thing is that not only does she speak english and french quite well, but spanish is her first language, meaning there should never be any miscommunication between her and the resort due to a language barrier. That makes us feel so much more secure. :)

Yes I am. I want a simple and stress free wedding, so no need to have an outside WC. Not to mention our minuscule budget. You?

Thanks for the info jstar, but like sweetpea, lots of my guests speak french, so I need someone local. Plus, I do find it easier to be able to see her face to face. :)

So far I plan on using just the resort WC and local TA for travel arrangements. But I haven't finalized our location yet and would like to look into having an offsite ceremony & recpetion like at a Hacienda or more historical venue which I think would be best coordinated through a local WP. But I'm guessing my budget won't permit that...

I also contacted Pauline @ Shinetravel. I agree she has been very helpful thus far. Even though she is out of TO, we will either go with her or another TA that I found, also not from Montreal. It's unfortunate that the TA's here don't specialize in DW weddings. I just don't have the confidence in them that I need for this type of event.

We shall see how it all turns out but I'm confident that either of my 2 choices will be more than capable.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
