Las Caletas Couples ~ POST HERE!!! (**All LC Brides...PLEASE READ 1st post, red text)

I have a question for past brides - did anyone rent their own bus to drive guests to and from hotel/marina? LC originally quoted us $12 per person and now are insisting we pay $14 per person, totalling $600. It's a 15 bus ride, I don't see think it's worth $600. Out of curiosity, I got a quote from another tour company who rents out their buses and their quote came in at almost $200 less...enough to make me reconsider since I'm currently not working (the worst position to be in when your wedding is coming up). Any experiences anyone can share using other bus services?

one more thing---what are you doing about children at the wedding?

Thanks and happy to help!  I LOVE planning and have been having a blast planning our wedding...trying to get a lot done before our site visit next week so when we sit down with Blanca, we have a good and clear idea of what we want.  As far as kids, we're in the same boat as Weliaslo.  My niece (our flower girl) is 2 and my nephew (our ring bearer) is 4.  They are the only 2 kids coming.  I know that Dreams has a babysitting service and I'm sure other resorts (especially ones that gear towards weddings) do the same.  We are adding in the extra hour at the end of the wedding and I'm sure the kids will be sleepy, but my sister and brother in law are very laid back and will probably just let them cuddle up on a lounge chair.  Hope this helps.  :)

This is one of my questions when we sit down with Blanca next week.  We were also originally quoted at $12 and now were told it's $14...I remember reading (waaaay back) in the forum that there are very few companies that are allowed into the marina.  I don't see how this is possible though or I'm hoping that things have changed.  When I get more details from Blanca, I will report back. What tour company did you get the quote from?  I will ask her specifically about that one if you'd like.

Our contract says 13.50$ for transportation and that was back in January 2012 (it had just gone up from 12$) .  I asked Annie if I could use another transportation service and she said it wouldn;t be a problem however we need to consider that the 13.50$/person includes the 2$/person tax that you have to pay once you arrive at the marina.  Annie said to make sure you include that if you get outside quotes.

Thanks Lala and Lianne. The company I got my quote from was Superior Tours Vallarta. I was originally quoted $12 this past January from VA, then was told about a month ago from Blanca it was $13.50 and now this week she informed me it's $14 because of the marina taxes, but this is the first time I've heard of this tax.

I will ask this other company about the tax and whether or not they're allowed to go into the marina. We're departing from the marina in Nuevo Vallarta, I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Hey there-

I am getting married Feb 16, 2013 at Las Caletas!

We are staying at the Riu Palace Pacifico and got a pretty good deal for 4 nights, all-inclusive.  They are pretty good with the negotiations and have been fairly flexible to accommodate our group of 80 guests-39 rooms.

HI MarriednMex!! That is the date I tried to get!!!!  Hahaha! When did you reserve---I just got engaged about 2 weeks ago so I am behind on most planning--though it is still working out!  We decided on Monday the 18th so we are right after you.  Wow!  80 people, 39 rooms!!  We decided to not do all-inclusive for guests so we will be at the Marriott.  Undecided for honeymoon---have you chosen?  Best wishes!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
