Thanks for the info, Ann.  Was your welcome dinner at Dreams considered a private event?  Did you have to pay for this?

We are having our "welcome dinner" at Dreams as well. We are meeting for cocktails at one of the hotel bars and then heading over to Mexican Fiesta night. All is free. They even reserved space for us.

The Dreams had a mexican fiesta night the day of my welcome dinner and I wish I would've known because I would've gotten them to reserve that for us. I would check on that!

We did a private dinner by the pool/beach- cocktails first and then a sit down 3 course dinner. It cost us about 1500 for the entire thing for 21 people. That included table linens, centerpieces, chair covers etc...

I've heard about that!  That's great news that they will reserve a few tables for you!  Thanks for the info ladies. :)

Thanks, ladies!  That is a huge help!  We will definitely plan our welcome dinner around the fiesta night. Did anyone use sparklers at their wedding?  If so, did you pack them and get through customs?  I asked Annie if they sold them in PV and she said only during holidays twice a year.

My wedding isn't till April 2013 but we got a quote back from our agent for a Friday departure date as Saturday departure dates are still not available.  I was really hoping to leave on a Saturday to save people from having to take the extra vacation day off.  I'm worried that if we wait for a Saturday to become available that the price will be more expensive.  As of right now if we depart Friday the 19th of April 2013 from Toronto it will be 1515$ tax in.   Did you guys wait closer to the wedding date to book???  Any feedback would be awesome!!!  Thanks!!!

 hola!

I booked my hotel n flight package more than a year prior to the wedding. when i first went to the travel agent it was 1350 a person for dreams that far a head! i waited and lost it!! that was a great deal!! I ended up getting it for 1485 a person, so i jumped on it. and plus our travel agency will price match if the price goes down from when we booked unitll 30 days before we leave!! So id say book it! take the chance its still a great deal for booking far ahead! and once you book it, you will feel better! i didnt even send our save the dates. just mailed everyone pics and info about the hotel price. and they had 2 months to put a deposit of $200 them they have 9 months to pay it off in full! And who ever books you know they want to be there!!  certain circumstance....

Hopes this helped!

Hi,

I am getting very concerned about the 'new' prices everyone is mentioning.  Other than the $300 photography price is there others?  I booked last September with Kelly and also made it clear that I would be bringing an outside photographer but she said you only had to pay the $50 charge and that is what shows up on my contract.  I recently emailed Denise to enquire about any new pricing and asked if they would be honouring my contract as is and she didn't mention any changes.  So, I am really hoping I won't get any crazy up-charges when I get the final bill.  Did any of the brides who have gotten married in the last month or so have any trouble with their contracts?

Thanks again for all the help!

Hi Samantha!

From what other brides have said on this forum, Fiesta night is every Friday night.  I stayed at Secrets (Adults-only version of Dreams) last year and they did the same thing on a Friday night.  They set up a bunch of tables around the pool with buffets of Mexican food and live entertainment. Also, just found out that they will reserve tables for your group if ypu give them a heads up!  Saves tons of money on a Welcome Dinner. :) Hope this helps.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
