Everything will be great laurin!  And if there are surprises, i'm sure they will be good ones.  I didn't visit LC before booking so I had no idea how it looked in real life and only knew by photos.  It's definitely different than what I imagined but it was amazing.  GOOD LUCK and can't wait to see pics!

Ali,

Congrats on your wedding. You look amazing. I was just wondering what the sky laterns are? It looks pretty cool , do you light them up and let them go into the sky with a wish? Did kelley provide these ? And lastly when were they done during the ceremony?

I cant believe I am 2 months away , I am in the mist of planning and beginning my talks with kelley. Just hope all goes well.

Thanks!  Best. Day. Ever.  You will soon find out.

Sky Lanterns are becoming more popular these days - they have been in the move Hangover 2 and also on the Bachelorette. We did these right after the father/daughter & mother/son dances as it was dark at LC and that's the best time to do it.  you can find out more information at theskylantern.com but they are AWESOME and I would highly recommend doing them at LC.  I brought 2 packs of 12-colored lanterns with me (they take about 2 or 3 ppl per lantern) and don't forget to bring lighters..  I brought 15 cheap Bic lighters from Walmart.  Kelley loves these and I think you should definitely do them!

Here is a link to Amazon, which was the cheapest I found and qualify for free shipping if you buy 2 packs!

A few questions I've randomly come up with:

1. What did you girls think of the DJ's actual sound?  Did he sound good?

2. Are there drinks on the boat for the guests on the way to Las Caletas and if so, is it a cash bar?

3. Everyone is now getting me worried that I should add the extra hour.. I was just worried about those who might want to go back right away.. did anyone have problems with that?

We brought our own DJ and we are very, very picky about the music being played and sound quality.  They have very good JBL speakers and I wouldn't worry about it sounding bad.  We basically had a rave on the beach and it all sounded great.

Yes, drinks on the boat for guests coming over.  It's included in the package so no cash exchange is required.  Drinks are also included on the boat ride back to the marina.

Highly highly recommend the extra hour.  You are going to get to LC and not want to leave...you'll want to stay all night.  For guests that don't partake in all the dancing, they can hang out on top where everyone eats or chill on the beach in the lounge chairs they set up.  The majority of your guests will want to stay as long as possible including you and your husband! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

For past couples, did you arrange transportation for your guests to/from the Marina? We have guests staying at 3 different resorts, and are wondering if we should hire a charter bus, or just let people try to catch a cab. I've been to the Marina a couple of times it seems like you have to walk up the street to that busy road to try and find a cab, which could be a hassle for our guests at the end of the night. How did everyone else handle transportation to/from the Marina?

Hello everyone
I'm looking for a little advice! I am heading to Puerto Vallarta this Friday and I really want to try and scope out as many things as we can while we're there. We  have made arrangements to visit Las Caletas on Monday. We are staying at Dreams Villamagna and visiting Dream Puerto Vallarta. My concern is that Las Caletas will not live up to the hype. I want to visit some other locations and really make use of my time there. If anyone has any ideas about other places I should be visiting i would be VERY grateful!!!!!! I really like the garden-like scene, grass, and gazebo areas by the water.

Thank you PV brides! :)

Jmikla - that 1 odd table isn't too far from the other tables.  It's right next to 3 other tables that are close to the buffet as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
