Las Caletas Couples ~ POST HERE!!! (**All LC Brides...PLEASE READ 1st post, red text)

I did transportation through LC/Kelley.  it worked out great.  It's a little expensive based on taking taxis, but I felt it was important to have everyone arrive at the same time vs risking a cab not making it and having guests pay for their own transportation.  I used another company for transportation to/from the airport to Dreams that was excellent - http://puertovallartatours.net/.  You should look into them and their rate for transporting your guests.   Being you have guests staying at 3 different resorts, you can either have all guests meet at 1 resort or do 3 separate group transportation....

I would not recommend having people take taxis from the Marina back to their resort.  It's going to be late at night and you may not be able to easily find a lot of cabs near that area.  It'd be easier to arrange transportation and have everyone easily and safely return to each resort.

We have guests staying at 3 different resorts, and are wondering if we should hire a charter bus, or just let people try to catch a cab. I've been to the Marina a couple of times it seems like you have to walk up the street to that busy road to try and find a cab, which could be a hassle for our guests at the end of the night. How did everyone else handle transportation to/from the Marina?

I know what I "thought" I wanted and now all of sudden I'm not sure of anything I wanted anymore... please tell me I'm not the only one and this is normal???? Please???? LOL Just have to tell myself to keep it together for 8 more weeks.... 8 weeks ahhhhhhhh!!!!! LOL

DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trashing the dress was ALMOST more fun than the wedding for us! haha

my hubby was semi annoyed with the thought of another day of pics as well but he knew how much i had my heart set on doing it. Once we were actually taking the pics we both had so much fun! Don't get me wrong when i say this but some of our TTD pics are actually our favs over our wedding day pics. our wedding day pics are amazing but there really are some TTD pics that are even more amazing in their own way!

i think my TTD slideshow link is still in my siggy!

Oh, I believe Las Caletas will "live up to the hype"..and more! Of course I am biased but it was amazing, amazing, amazing. However, it is not the garden/grass/gazebo scene, which I am sure a lot of the hotels on the water have. If you want my opinion, Las Caletas is unique, gorgeous, and intimate. From what I have heard, and seen, the hotels can have at least three to five weddings going on at the same time and other strangers will be snapping pictures and standing around. We stayed at the Westin and Dreams PV. My husband asked and Dreams PV said they can have 5 weddings at once. The Westin had three in one night when I was there and my hairdresser/make up girl and her friends (they flew down) crashed two of the weddings. That would upset me. Not possible at Las Caletas. But that is just my two cents. I am sure wherever you have your wedding it will be wonderful wherever you choose. Like I said, I am extremely biased lol.

We  have made arrangements to visit Las Caletas on Monday. We are staying at Dreams Villamagna and visiting Dream Puerto Vallarta. My concern is that Las Caletas will not live up to the hype. I want to visit some other locations and really make use of my time there. If anyone has any ideas about other places I should be visiting i would be VERY grateful!!!!!! I really like the garden-like scene, grass, and gazebo areas by the water.

Thank you PV brides! :)

Yes, Martoca is also a private venue no one will be crashing your wedding.  It is a garden right on the beach so you get the best of both worlds.  For me it is was the sit down dinner that I could have at Martoca that won me over and not having to take a boat to get there (some of my guests were terrified at the thought of having to take a boat to get there).  Good luck with your site visits!

  • 2 weeks later...

hey everyone,

all this info is super helpful!
so, it sounds like those of you that used the hair/make up that was provided with kelley were all pretty happy with it?

Our wedding is early January at LC and I havent decided about that part of it yet.. we were kinda thinking that i would just do my own hair and make up .. but if it's really

good.. then... it would probably make life much easier.. not to mention make the pics good! :)

just to clarify:
-they used airbrushing make up?

-did they come and do everything while you and the bridal party were chillin at las caletas?

-does anyone know if all their make up artists use airbrushing tools? it seems like there is some confusion about if it is joel or fernando.. do they both do airbrushing..?

(i am a huge fan of airbrushed make up .. it is SO light!! does not feel like heavy caked on make up at all!!)

thanks for your help!!!

i'm starting to get a bit nervous.. since we have not dealt with all the details.. but it sounds like las caletas is a pretty sweet venue!

cheers.gif

I did a trial with Joel when I was there in October. He used airbrush with airbrush tools- it held all night at rhythms of the night during 100% humidity and me sweating like CRAZY and it will not be humid in January. I am SOOO picky and I looked amazing- I can't wait for them to do hair/makeup for me in March. I posted a pic a few pages back of my trial. I would say yes get your hair and make up done- you'll be happy when you see your pics later. I just don't want to stress about doing my own and I want to be pampered.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
