Las Caletas Couples ~ POST HERE!!! (**All LC Brides...PLEASE READ 1st post, red text)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I am scheduled to get married 5/18/13 at Dreams Puerto Vallarta. However, lately I have been reading a lot about Las Caletas and what an amazing location it is for a wedding. There is tons of information in this thread that I haven't had time to go through so I figured I'd make a quick post just asking some basic info about LC. From what I understand of it now, it is not a resort but just a destination, you have to get there by boat, it is pretty private/secluded, and that's about all I know! Is that all accurate?

I guess my dilemma is that I have been booked with Dreams for a few months now and pretty much planned it all with them, so now I'm concerned because I am having second thoughts! I always pictured my wedding as a pretty private thing and I guess my main concern in what I've read about Dreams at this point is that it IS at a resort so privacy isn't guaranteed. Plus everything about LC just looks so beautiful whereas some of the pictures I've seen of where my wedding will be at Dreams I haven't been completely sure about. Ahh I guess I am just looking for any advice. Other main things I would like to know is how much is included in the wedding package with Las Caletas, since with Dreams you get a lot for your money. My fiance and I have hired an outside photographer and videographer we are flying out, so that isn't something we're concerned with getting, but I would like to know if hair and makeup, massages, music, that kind of stuff is included in the price to get married at Las Caletas.

I would appreciate any and all info people can give! Thanks :)

This thread is full of info that will help you decide.  We originally planned on Dreams too (that's where we're staying so it would be included), but decided that for the price, Las Caletas was well worth it.  Check out their website for more info on different packages http://adventureweddingspv.com/.  I'm warning you though, the more you see of Las Caletas, the more you will want to get married there! :)

That is definitely how I have been feeling! I have been spending the last couple hours on and off the computer looking back and forth and Dreams and Las Caletas and I am just so torn now! But thanks for the tips :) One more question if you don't mind since it isn't quite clear to me from their site...you pay extra for hair and makeup? Same for live music (like mariachi/trios)? One of the things I really like with Dreams is that hair/makeup and Mexican trio is included with our package, so I am just trying to get a feel for how much extra I would be spending to book Las Caletas. Thanks!

Hi Kate G,

Yes Las Caletas is quite a bit more expensive than a resort, but completely worth it to us.  You have the Paradise wedding package that starts at 2950     (not including guests) and goes up from there on what you want to add.  ( hair & make up, Dj, massages, centerpieces etc.) But this one is only semi-private, which means that the people that go there for the tours are also there during your wedding (separate areas, i think)   The Premier package however is fully private. So its just you and your guests :)

This is the main reason we did not choose a resort, and the fact that we have been to LC before and fell in love with it.

Let me know if you have any more questions, always happy to help out :)

Hi Kate,

You do have to pay extra for a lot of things.  Like 10$/person tip, hair&makeup, if you have an outside photographer I think its now an extra 300$ to allow them to attend, DJ, transportation (extra 13.50$/person)....having said that my fiance and I think its totally worth it!!!   I think whatever you choose to do it will be a beautiful day that you will never forget!  Good Luck with your planning.

This is the pricing listed on my most recent proposal. Not sure if any of this info has changed or increased in price.  The Mariachi Band is an additional $800/hr with a minimum of 2 hours. A Tropical Jazz Trio Band is $450/hr with a minimum of 2 hours.  A DJ is $490 for the event, but you can also bring an Ipod and they can hook it up into their system.  They also have fire dancers (from the Rhythms of the Night show) that all of the brides say are AMAZING!  They are an additional $300 or $450 with drummers.  Hair and makeup isn't included Bride's Hair is $150, Makeup is $120 or you can get both done for $220.  Bridesmaids- Hair-$80, Makeup $60 or both for $120.  Hope this helps!  Good Luck!

Thank you all for the information! I really appreciate it. Only thing I am having a really hard time getting past is the $300 charge to bring in an outside photographer. I'm already spending over 4 grand to get my photographer out here and use him and to think I'd be charged any more money on top of that really sucks. Do you guys know more about the photography they use? Are there examples of their work I could see?

If you want private, spend the money at Las Caletas. I stayed at the Dreams in Nuevo Vallarta and my first night there I sat with my husband at the pool and watched a wedding, I saw three others that week. I kept saying to my husband, SOOOO glad ours will be private over at Las Caletas. I know the Dreams Packages include a lot, but Las Caletas will cater to your need. For example I did my rehearsal dinner at the dreams and they booked it as a small wedding. I had about 10 photos of flowers to choose from and that was it. With Las Caletas you send them pictures and they match it. I was able to "plan" what I wanted. It was easy, beautiful, etc....hands down pay the $300 for your photographer, IT'S SOOOO worth getting married there! AND...in the end it will still be cheaper than a local wedding! :)

Oh and the food is amazing! So was hair/makeup, private boat. Everyone keeps saying it's the best wedding they have ever been to! :)

Hi Kate,

check out these links for their photographer.  I've heard great things about them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
