well don't worry laura I actually didn't finalize my bill until a week and a half before my wedding basically because they werent responding to me with finalized bill. Also once everything is paid no more can be subtracted. Example: I had two guests cancel on me 2 days before the wedding, I figured I wouldnt get my money back but asked anyways and was told nope once bill is paid they already have the arrangements in the works . So dont worry as long as you pay before you get to PV and WC confirms they have recieved it you are good. Make sure she confirms though they have recieved money

I'm finding people are just rude! I can't believe they would cancel on you for a destination wedding? Most people we invited didn't even bother RSVPing and most are being a pain in the rear with booking their hotel trip etc... with our travel agent. I did a destination wedding to save on some hassles, but others are arising, I'm just ignoring it and figure who comes comes! :)

Good to know on the paying the bill stuff- I need them to fix a whole bunch of stuff on my invoice, it's still based on the original "quote" stuff.

Thanks to everyone for the insight on what to expect in regards to WC response time. It's a huge comfort knowing other couples are going through the same thing!  I'm understand our wedding isn't their first priority because it's so far out, but just want to make the deposit to secure the date and am surprised they aren't more anxious to take our money!

Also, wanted to ask if everyone suggests booking through a travel agent and if so there are any suggestions on a quality company/agent?  I know it will be more organized booking through an agent, but is the price really better?

Get a good travel agent, definietely look into the ones on this forum!!! I have heard great things about them. I used a travel agent and we saved big time booking early through them. We only had a few people book outside our agent and when people started asking me a million travel questions, I just said call our agent she`ll tell you ;) It saved me some headaches!!!

Hello future LC brides!

I am getting married on Friday March 2, 2012...I can't believe it's almost here! Annie is my new wedding coordinator. I too was disappointed to have Kelley leave as I attended a wedding in LC a while back and was confident of her work ethic. However, from what I am reading I am hopeful that Annie will do a good job.

So I guess for a destination wedding you could say I am a bit of a rarity when it comes to guest count. Maybe out there somewhere back where I haven't seen there was someone who had a guest count of 110!!!!!! Well, if that that's me! So needless to say it's been quite the task making sure we have everything we want for our special day via email! We had no idea ALL of my Dad's side of the family would want to attend...10 brothers and sisters not to mention cousins! And, majority of our friends! But...it will make for an amazing day that's for sure.

Annie is a bit slow responding to emails with an average 2-3 week response. However, I can understand how busy she is. As long as most goes smoothly during mine I'm not going to stress about the small stuff!

As I read a few posts back, I too have not made our final payment due to needing a revised contract. Thanks to whomever let us know you can't get money back if people back out last minute...GOOD to know!

For the most part we chose some extras but are bringing some decor to save on cost. We are lucky to have our own pastor conduct our ceremony which will make it even more special. We chose turquoise organza chair covers which I see go on the new chairs now? That is if they have enough of them to fit our group. We are doing turquoise runners and a mix of pink and purple petals. Instead of floral centerpieces we are doing 3 vases with submerged flowers(purchased some fake flowers which look incredibly real so that saved us on cost) with floating candles on top and a mix of vases with just floating candles. We hired the DJ which I am super excited to hear that he does a great job! That takes some stress off because the music really sets the mood! Annie is outsourcing our cake which is costing about $700 for the amount of people we have but the fiance wants it! Fire dancers of course! And since my dad's side of the family is from Jalisco we hired our own 13 piece mariachi to play during cocktail hour and into dinner...again...another BIG save on cost. They are very good to allow you to bring your own stuff/people which is one nice thing I can say about having your wedding there.

I've received so much helpful information on this website so a big thanks goes out to all of you who take the time to share so much with all of us future brides. I can't wait to marry the man of my dreams and be surrounded by so many loved ones in such an incredible environment! It is truly one of a kind! I will make sure to check in and eventually post a review of my own! Sorry this was so long...whew!

Forgot one thing! Absolutely get a travel agent!!! It saves you so much precious time. Our travel agent has been amazing! She has worked so hard to get us the best deals. Her name is Rhoda and she works for a company called Continental travel group. In case anyone needs a contact number please feel free to message me.

Thanks for the advice ladies!  We will definitely get an agent and I am looking forward to alleviating some of the group travel planning stress.

Iluvfrenchies, can't believe you've received such an overwhelming response from guests!  All of the details sound fabulous and I'm sure your day will be amazing!  Are you planning on bringing your centerpieces over with you or shipping them beforehand?  I'm DIYing a lot of my decor details like centerpieces and favors and I'm wondering whether shipping them or traveling with them is the better option?

Any other brides have experience with this?

Use a travel agent! While I'm still having some headaches, it's so much easier to say "call the agent" and just focus on the other wedding stuff!!! :) :) :)

I had my bachelorette party last night, getting excited- all the wedding events are coming soon, less than 2 months! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
