Hey ladies so this end of year a few close girlfriends and relatives have had their first babies, I figured many of them did not want to travel with their babies at the age of 1 yr old by next year but seems I have 3 ppl who do. Not that I do not want their children to attend but how do i explain that it is not ideal to have their children at the ceremony/reception? I figure it is not ideal since they cannot go back to their resort room until after reception over... Did anyone have this situation and how did they handle it? I do not want to offend anyone.

One of my bridesmaid's baby will be 9 months at that time and my FSIL's baby will be 6 months. They do not want to bring them along, as even traveling to a different country with a baby is daunting to them (understandably). Family is watching them at home. I have also explained that it is not the type of reception where they can just leave....you are stuck here until the boat leaves lol. There will not be any kids at our wedding but I know some other girls on here have had some and they haven't mentioned it being a problem. I am also concerned for our 80-90 year old grandparents, but at this point I can't do much about it. I would just present it as a awesome baby free vacation for tired stressed out parents :)

Thanks for the advice lesley. I have made a website for all my family +friends with all the information of the wedding day but I guess some haven't really read it lol. Anyhow speaking of which I recommend weddingchannel.com for any bride who wants make a Free website to have all their information on it. It was recommended to me by my cousin who also had a destination wedding to another state though. It is a great way to have all the info. for they day on it, plus things to do in the area, travel agent info. etc., etc.

ok ladies just giving my 2 cents for the day.

The same thing has happened to me. A few of my closest friends got married recently, they are not expecting and are not able to attend the wedding. I'm bummed about that but at the same time, I am very happy for them as they start their families.

I have a few friends who have toddlers (less than 3yr old) and are coming to the wedding. They are considering this trip as a family vacation and bringing their toddlers with them.

We are staying at Dreams PV and they offer babysitting service (for a fee) for the day of the wedding. I gave it as options to my wedding guests.

I am officially exactly 3 months out as of today!  I can't believe it and time is flying.

Former LC Brides - I am trying to decide on the photographer today and wanted to see if anyone had any issues with the LC photographer?  Why did you hire someone outside instead of using them if you did?  Any bad reviews?  We want to keep it easy but if there are any issues, I will start researching other options as well.  Nate is way out of our budget sadly, but maybe a local photographer option might work.

Also, what did you think of the mariachi band?  Anyone hire them?  We wanted them just for when our guests got off the boat and before the wedding ceremony, but that seems like too much money for such a short amount of time.

Do they provide table runners or did you bring your own?  Any other suggestions on things we should bring that I am not thinking of.

Thanks for all your help.  This forum is a lifesaver.

Just an idea that was passed on to me about children and destination weddings. If you don't have many children attending then this probably won't be useful, but... depending on travel arrangements you are making I know some vacation carriers give deals for wedding and group booking like for every 10th or 15th person booked you get a free one. What was suggested to me was to use that free one on a younger family friend or babysitter to watch the children during the wedding and also during excursions or other activities. Just a thought that was passed on to me and felt it may be useful for you also.

Jen_Matt, I think with the photographers it is a matter of style. I was having a hard time with this one too until we decided to hire Nathaniel Thompson. I did a lot of research and pretty much never heard anything bad about the photographer that Kelly picks. As far as bringing items down with us, I'm trying my best to pack as much as possible. I hate to sound cheap but if I can get it here for less, you betcha I'm packing it up and bringing it down with me. :D

Thanks choeft201  for the info, sounds great! I have another question (probably one of a million coming up since it is less than 4 months away! :)) but for the veteran LC brides....I have read the threads in the forum about what shoes to wear on the beach, but I was wondering what yall wore as there are the steps involved in the walk down the aisle also!?! Obviously, I will not be wearing heels, but I am now thinking about wearing a wedge, as I am short and like height. I am getting my bridesmaids barefoot jewelry I think. Will there feet burn on the sand (our ceremony is at 6 in May so hopefully not)? Did you wear different shoes during the reception? Has anyone walked down the aisle in wedges? Thanks so much!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
