Las Caletas Couples ~ POST HERE!!! (**All LC Brides...PLEASE READ 1st post, red text)

Recommended Posts

For 2011 Las Caletas brides, are you gals going to have a welcome dinner or rehearsal dinner for your guests?

I am looking into making a reservation for a restaurant that can hold about 40 guests in downtown PV, but I've never been there so does anyone have any recommendations?

My whole wedding party is staying at Dreams PV and I suppose we can do our dinner thing at the hotel too, that will be my second option. I saw some brides that had a bonfire welcome party at Dreams PV, but since I'm having the bonfire set-up at Las Caletas as part of the wedding reception, I don't want to repeat the same thing.

Any suggestions? I need recommendation for restaurants in Dreams PV that is semi-private to gather my guests so I can greet them during their first night or a restaurant in downtown PV?

What are the basic guidelines with customs and how strict are the agents with everything?  I bought a couple of things and a while ago and did not even think the logistics of bringing them into Mexico and now I for the life of me can not find the flippin' receipts.  I read somewhere that you are only allowed a certain amount of "items/product" with you.  How did you ladies who have made the trip handle this?

I'm glad I thought of this now rather than have that, "oh crap!" moment a month before we leave.

haha I had a HUGE fear of that dang red/green light get through customs systems. I think I had nightmares that I would get the red light!

I tried to keep all of my receipts for all of the things I purchased but there was really some that I just didn't have. We ended up with 5/6 bags and huge box that we had checked (full of the OOT bags). It was pretty obvious that we were there for a wedding...I was even ready to whip out my dress and show them!

Anyway, none of us in our group got the red light (thank goodness) but the custom guy was verrrrry interested in what was in the box and they wanted to open it. which was fine. they opened the box and saw about 20 straw beach bags. we just said it was for a wedding, the guy looked at us, saw a HUGE wedding dress bag and let us go on. So really no problems at all and I never even did need to show receipts, even though I did have them handy. So really no problems at all, the process of them opening the box and looking in it took less than 2 minutes.

I think that they see enough brides/wedding parties come through that they just know that you are not going to sell your bags of wedding crap.

I would just try to keep as many of your receipts as possible handy just in case you do need them and be ready to show them that dress too! hee hee

you'll be fine, even if you do get the red light!

Phewww!

Andi, your a doll. That's a big stress relief reliever.

You are such an amazing photographer!!!  We are getting married at LC in November and we were originally thinking of flying a photographer from CA.  You are definitely making me question this!

Quick question for you, based on your experience if our ceremony is at 6:15 pm, will we have enough light for bride/groom pics afterwards?  I don't want to see the groom before the ceremony so I hope it stays light long enough.

Thanks!

I was married november 21st and we moved the time up one hour.  I would definately do that again...I would want more time for pictures.  I would also add on the extra hour!!  I did a day after shoot in town too.

ChicagoPT - does Kelley have any issues moving the time up 1 hour?  We are considering doing an extra hour as well (let's face it, we'll be having too much fun to leave) but also want to make sure we have enough time to do photographs...it sounds like you had the same concerns.

Right now we have our photographer coming early (around 3 before all the guests arrive) to shoot just the 2 of us and wedding party, and then we'll do family and sunset photos after the ceremony.

I think that depending on when your wedding is you should be just fine with the normal start time of the ceremony. when we got married in April we have no light issues because sunset isn't right away. So in my opinion from March - june you should be just fine because there is more day light. Might be a good idea to move it up from oct-feb.

We did though extend the reception by the extra hour because i  knew i wouldn't want it to end.

so i think if you move up the ceremony and extend the end of the reception you would probably have to pay for 2 extra hours as opposed to the one.

Thanks so much ChicagoPT!  :)

I e-mailed Kelley about moving my ceremony up an hour and she said that she will do her best to accomodate me but it just depends on how many tours she has scheduled for that day.  How far in advance did Kelley give you the okay regarding moving your ceremony forward?  Also, I just thought I would mention that Kelley said sundown is about 7:00 pm this time of year.

Thanks again,

Nicole

Hey girlies! It's almost only 4 months away, ahhh, and I still don't have my invitations sent out yet! Probably my fault because I took forever finding someone. However, our save the dates were sent out about 9-10 months prior and we started telling people about the trip about a year out. When did yall send out your formal invites?

Anyway, I found Crystal at http://www.etsy.com/shop/artbycrystal and this is her website for her handmade invitations cldart.deviantart.com/gallery/#Invitations
She literally handpaints her invites. I want a vintage Mexico theme with talavera, papel picado, etc. Anyway, she makes digital mockups of what she is going to do and this is what she sent me today, I LOVE it and she is even going to design red papel picado to place on the back of the invitation (which will be purple)! She is making a monogram and an invitation suite to include the invite, rsvp card, and information card. I can't WAIT to see them in person since it will be even more gorgeous because it will be hand painted!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
