As of now we're also planning to do the legal ceremony in Mexico. From what I've read, it sounds like the majority of you guys plan to get the legal stuff out of the way before heading down. Is there anyone out there who plans to/did do the legal marriage south of the border? Any advice to make the process go smoother?

Brooklyn Carolina, you're getting married the day before me!! I originally wanted your date, but the Sunday works just as well for us too. The holiday weekend makes travel a little easier on the kids who will be missing some school to come down.
Congratulations!n I am an early planner so I had request the date back in September!

Need some advice in regards to babies/children. My initial thought was not to have any children/babies at the ceremony in Las Caletas. I feel that it changes the "party" feel especially on the boat over etc when you have little kids esp. on a boat with a bunch of adults driniking. Plus, since we will not be getting back into the marina until 1 am - it is not a choice to leave when the baby gets tired etc.

I am starting to wonder if I am a little to sensitive about these things. Can anyone one tell me what their expereience was? One of my bridesmaids will have her baby in septemeber, so the baby will be 3 months old. She wants to bring the baby to Las Caletas. Any thoughts on having a 3 month old at Las Caletas? I plan on talking to Kelley to see if they can set up a crib etc. but just wanted to here peoples thoughts.....and get some advice.....

Congrats!!!

I am getting married on May 2nd. Less than two weeks! We are doing the legal ceremony in Mexico the morning of the 2nd before the bridesmaids and I head to Caletas. So far it has not been a hassle - we filled out a short questionnaire and sent copies of birth certificates, passports, and drivers licenses to Kelley. When we get to Mexico, we'll do the blood tests. I'll let you know how everything goes when I get back. So far we are really glad we decided to do the legal portion in Mexico.

We were going to do the legal ceremony as well and changed our minds last week. We're actually going tomorrow to city hall to get legally married. There were several factors that influenced our decision to do this. First one was the fact that we had to go to LC offices at 730am...we are not morning people...lol. Second was the fact that we would have to pay at home a $600 translation fee for the marriage certificate, on top of already paying about $500 to have a legal ceremony in Mexico. We could of had the marriage license translated in MX for less, but then we run the risk of it not being accepted in our state in still having to pay their fee for translation. So we decided to save and get legally wed at home for $40...lol.

Hello everyone! I have a request and I do not know if it is possible... we will see. Is there any way AnnR, or whoever else is in charge, could repost some of the links to Bride's wedding pictures? I am having a really hard time finding pictures of people RECEPTIONS. I have found a lot of "coming in on the boat" and "ceremony" pictures but I have sifted through tons of slidesshows and cannot remember who had the most RECEPTION pictures. I am needing these pictures to help convince my family and fiance that LC is absolutely beautiful and worth the effort! Can anyone help? Does anyone still have the link to the old thread that had all the picture links on it? Or does anyone have any reception pictures that they could email me? Any help would be GREAT!! thanks everyone! And BAREFOOTBRIDE cannot wait to see your pics and hear more about it! Congrats and welcome back!!!

also - Ms. Havisu.... we are dying for your pictures still!!

Thanks everyone!

- Rachelle

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
