whoa so many new LC brides all of a sudden, or maybe you all are just in the midst of planning your weddings wink.gif

looks like Ann answered the firedancer time question, which was a wayyyy better answer than I would have had because I zero knowledge of the time on my wedding day!

as far as getting ready at the hotel or LC....depends on what you want to do honestly. I spent the entire day at LC and left at 9am to go over there. there is no way i would have wanted hair and makeup done then. if you are maybe not planning on going over for the day then getting hair/makeup at the hotel is possible but on the boat you will get pretty wind-blown i would imagine. when are you planning on heading over? with your guests or early in the morning?

It looks like we make a great team then, cuz I was going to say the exact same thing about the hair. Most brides do head over early and spend the say swimming, relaxing, etc. and your hair/makeup might not last all day in the heat. Or even if you don't go over early, I don't know how hair would withstand the boat ride over. I would imagine that some have done it successfully though, so hopefully they chime in!

just wanted to throw it out there that Fernando did my hair and it lasted through the boat ride home, it was crazy. I was up dancing on the front of the boat, wind blowing around like crazy and my hair still looked awesome by the time we got back to port. So I would think it would be possible to do hair earlier. However, I wouldn't have wanted my hair done before I went to LC. It would have meant i couldn't go swimming/lay on the beach all day! The morning of, relaxing at LC, is one of my favorite wedding memories.

The reason that I ask is because we are doing a legal ceremony in the am. We wanted to have our legal wedding date be the same as our wedding at LC so we opted to have it done in the am on that day. Nothing special...we're thinkingof it as "taking care of paperwork". But I guess it would be nice to head over to LC early and relax before the ceremony. I'm wondering if i go early would i have to catch the tour boat that leaves at 9am or if i could leave later, say around noon. Any input?

Oh , yeah, that's another thing too! I think i can get hair and makeup done at my hotel for half of what they charge to do it at LC.

Yes it is a bit spendy, but if you use Fernando it is worth it! I took pictures of my hair and makeup with me of how I wanted it to look and he did an AMAZING job. He uses MAC makeup too. Also he goes to LC from Nuevo Vallarta so that is a pretty long haul just to get there. Yes it is spendy but in the end it was totally worth it, and the way I looked at it too was that it was my wedding day and I would only be doing it once!

ldeavila- I am sure you could get it done cheaper at the hotels but then you have to remember the boat ride over...could get pretty windy!

Fernando also did my hair and although it didn't really last the boat ride home (the curls starting falling out since I had it down) for me it was totally worth the $$. I agree with Tara that it was nice to be able to lounge around all day and not have to worry about ruining your hair. Plus, Fernando did an amazing job and I go so many compliments on my hair.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
