no fireworks for us, we just couldn't justify the cost. we lucked out though, on our wedding day the International Fireworks Show or something was there so they were shooting a TON off from PV, from Caletas they were just in the distance but hey I got my fireworks! ;) Anyways, it just wasn't worth the cost IMO.

oooh when is your wedding? I hope prices do drop for you!

I had a couple of folks book on Mexicana air for our November 3, 2010 wedding and they too are waiting for prices to drop.  Some are looking at paying up to triple what they had paid on Mexicana Air.

I've finalized everything with Kelley, OTHER THAN MUSIC.  Man, that's the worst part.  I'm just going to bring an Ipod, but I dont know what music to have for the wedding.  I've heard so many options, I think I'm going crazy.

Everything else has been a complete breeze.  Kelley and I talk at least once a week.  If it's not about the wedding, it's about something (ha).  She's a trooper.

Thanks nessa!  And yes, Kelley has been great even in the very, very beginning of the planning stages. :)

Now that I'm moving forward with planning, wanted to ask everyone's opinion on how they booked hotel.  Did you yourself negotiate a group rate with a hotel directly, or did you use a travel agent to do the heavy lifting?

We'll be having a group of about 60 people and are looking for an all-inclusive.  We are more of the party type of group vs a relaxed group.  I really want the hotel to allow 4 adults in 1 room so some people in our group can have the option of sharing.

(I may have missed a similar post on this thread and I apologize if I am repeating the question)

Can anyone give any tips on hotel negotiations?

Also, did anyone do a group discount code when booking flights?

Thanks!

Alison

I worked in hotel industry for years and if you want the travel arrangements to be organized, I would suggest using a travel agency. I am using one for my wedding party.

I have stayed at only 2 All inclusive hotels in Mexico and both times there were only 2 of us sharing the rooms. The price difference to have a 3rd or 4th person is not really a lot, about $5 per night so I would think the guests would rather have their own bed for $5 more.

Good luck on your hotel search

I would have someone set it up for you and help you. You do not want to take on the burden of figuring all that out yourself, or have people calling you trying to get you to arrange their accomodations. Plus, they might find discounts that you would not on your own. My WC in the US is named Precious (really, it is), so when people ask about booking, I say, "oh just call Precious!" :) If you get a group rate, depending on the number of "nights" your party books (2 rooms x 3 nights= 6 room nights), the bride and groom get upgrades and perks.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
