I'm engaged!

Hi there, I just got engaged to Mr. Wonderful last weekend and couldn't be happier. I am planning to get married March Break 2011 (I know...it's expensive...brother is a teacher). I have no idea where to go but am slowly narrowing it down thanks to all ya'll. I'm finding it a little difficult to get an idea of the cost for our guests because prices don't come out this far in advance. Orginally, I wanted to keep it below 1500 all inclusive but it's starting to look more like 2000 for that time of year in Punta Cana. Any thoughts? I don't want to end up somewhere affordable but crumby. Thanks advance for any help and congratulations to all of you.....and I hope I posted this right.

Congrats and welcome3.gif to the forum! I found the initial planning stage really overwhelming, especially since I had never travelled before. I'd say your best bet is to start making a list of things that you want in a hotel and rate each item in terms of importance. Once you've done that you can start eliminating some options. Talk to a TA too! Good luck and happy planning!

Congratulations on your engagement! I agree with Nicole - start making a list of possible areas you might like & then research them. You can also search the subforums here on different areas/resorts. I also found tripadvisor.com really helpful for hotel reviews & pics.

Good luck planning!

Congradulations on your engagement!!! Welcome to the forum, this place is so great.

Something that helped for me was getting the hotels in my price range, and then going on the designated threads on BDW forum and going on trip advisor. This really gives you an insight on what the hotel will offer you and if you think it will match your needs.

The girls will actually list out what they paid and all of that good stuff!

T

he DR sounds like a great location and is usually really good price wise, good luck with everything!!

Welcome...we're getting married at the Gran Bahia in Punta Cana in July, I'm a teacher too, when we were looking this was one of the more resonable hotels when looking at the prices for our guests! There is a load of information on this forum...have fun planning and checklists/timelines are such a good thing to follow! HAPPY PLANNING AND CONGRATS!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
