Jess' Planning Thread!

Recommended Posts

First of all – thank you Tammy for creating this forum. I never would have been able to have the kind of destination wedding I wanted without it. There is so much useful info on here. Second of all – thank you to my shouters for keeping me sane during this time. You girls are amazing, and have become really great friends to me. I know I can count on you girls and that means a lot.

With that, here is my planning thread – I can’t believe I leave in less than 2 weeks! –

BD Book Paul’s gift

Beth Cocuzzi did my BD shoot. Thank you so much MarieSam for the recommendation! I know she did Deanna’s pics also. She was awesome! I was so nervous at first but she made it so much fun. She did my makeup and Tara did my hair…I’d highly recommend her to anyone in the So Cal area

Bachelorette Party

Vegas of course! I had way too much fun with 12 of my girlfriends. We stayed at THEHotel at Mandalay Bay which is perfect for bachelorette parties as all the rooms are suites with 2 bathrooms! And a bar in the room of course smile29.gif

Welcome Letter

Iâ€m doing a letter with koozies as I have too many guests for full on out of town bags and I wouldnâ€t be able to relax if I had to put that many together. I donâ€t have either finished yet but the koozies are yellow and gray. Well attach them to the letters when we get their with gray ribbon and have them each delivered to the guests rooms.

Flowers

I would love cream colored peonies but I donâ€t think that is possible in Mexico right now – so all cream colored something…and for my bridesmaids yellow flowers of some sort – I love ranunculus.

Groomsmen Gifts

We really wanted the Flip Mino Camcorders that I recommended to some girls on here but FI was adamant on the camcorder being 1080P and HD (heâ€s a techy computer geek) so we found this Aiptek version for less ($120 on amazon) than the HD Mino version which was $249 – and with 9 groomsmen, that would just be too much $$

We also bought their ties (ivory), belts, and yellow socks

Welcome Dinner – BananaCantina:

I was looking for an inexpensive option since we had so many people. We wanted to keep the cost down. I found Banana Cantina on tripadvisor and Iâ€m so happy I did. We get to rent out the whole restaurant on Thanksgiving night. It fits about 55 people and we got a better deal than any of the other restaurants I was looking at – and this one is even nicer than half of them. It is really modern and trendy which we loved. Also, Jae the manager is American so she was really easy to talk to. She was also great over email and always got back to me in a timely manner.

And here is our postcard invitation from vistaprint

Wedding Coordinator

After joining this forum and picking Puerto Vallarta – I fell in love with the Dazzling Details after finding them on here (I am a horrible DIYâ€er and knew I needed the help of someone talented). They have been nothing but great and I canâ€t wait to see what they come up with.

Honeymoon

We searched trip advisor high and low and it was between Four Seasons Punta Mita and Casa Velas…we ended up choosing Casa Velas. We canâ€t wait! Thank you Andi for giving us the review to finalize our decision 

And that is it! Sorry I donâ€t have a lot of wedding specific details. My coordinators like to keep some things surprises so more to come with my review. Also, you can become their facebook fan and they put a lot of pics the week before someoneâ€s wedding on some of their “plans†– “The Dazzling Details†is their fan page – their blog is www.thedazzlingdetails.com/blog and my photographers is Stephanie Williams Photography Blog wedding and portrait photography blog . Iâ€ll miss you all!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
