Biggest Destination Wedding Stress factor - what's yours?

Recommended Posts

Yea I don't get it either. I'm still wondering if it'll be better to have them mail the RSVPs or do it online. I have done both when responding to people's weddings, for me the online one was so much easier but I'm inviting some older guests that I am unsure if they are computer savvy....for my parents and such I could just do it for them but I don't want to be doing it for EVERYONE. Lol.

I'll def tell people an earlier deadline though....I'm not going to chance that! Lol.

I don't like mailing in RSVP's but it's an issue I have haha. I hate going to post offices and to banks hahah. It's just super easy for me to go on the website and just click whether I'm going or not but I understand why it's better when you have older guests. I'm sending each person a text this week saying that next wednesday is the cutoff.

That's exactly how I feel. Once I know how many people will come I feel like I can really start planning a lot of the details. For example I'm not sure how much the food is going to cost us as this point because it's charged on a per person basis.

The inability to talk to vendors in person to plan it out. I feel like I'm a slave to emails all the time.

I hate to say this, but RSVPs are killing me right now! I have always been horrible with them in the past for other weddings...now I totally get! I will get my RSVPs in the future sent back ASAP!! We are still waiting for 54 of them...and the deadline is Friday! I really want to get some things done and numbers finalized so I can calculate the numbers!!!

Start sending out reminder texts or phone calls now. People will wait until the very last minute and it sucks. A quick reminder will give them the push to book. Thats what I had to do last month I had people booking up until the last day and even someone booked just last week on their own which is another story because now they aren't considered part of our wedding group and I have to pay extra for them. People forget deadlines so a quick reminder is good.

Who doesn't consider them in your group - the airline or the resort?  I assume the resort still would if they are staying there, but just not the airline.

I agree, send reminders.

But I read your post in another thread that some of the 54 have booked, just not with you? If yes, can't you just use that as an RSVP?  minus the menu they want, etc.  gives you a soft number.

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
