Biggest Destination Wedding Stress factor - what's yours?

Recommended Posts

haha well we are having 60 guests and a 14 person wedding party so I guess we are overkill :) But I dont think the size of your wedding or where you get married should have ANY influence on who you have in your wedding party.

I think the biggest stress is also getting people to book

I'm with Nadine on this one...I have exactly 14 people in my wedding party and 50 coming to the wedding so we too are in the "over kill" category. But I wouldn't have it any other way :)

I think the biggest stress has been putting stuff off until we get to Mexico and not know what to expect when we arrive. I guess just like any other bride...hoping things go how you plan!

Haha..sorry maybe 'overkill' was the wrong word :) I'm only inviting very close family & friends so in my situation I just feel bad inlcuding 1/3 of our guests in the wedding party and basically excluding the rest. How do I choose when they're ALL close to me...if I could I would make them all BM & GM. I can't choose 14 people because then i feel like I'm saying "these are the closest to me out of all of you" and I really don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I do know ppl who have done it and it looks great. I'm just a big wuss and it's stressing me out the thought of making anyone feel excluded or not special enough.

Dont worry, I def didnt take offense and I am sure Nat didnt either! I get looked at in disbelief when people ask how many people are in our wedding party, followed by 'so is everyone just gonna stand up front with you' hahah. Sure why not :)

We did invite all of our family and friends though so i could see how it would be hard for you since you are only invited your closest group to begin with. Dont stress too much, its not worth it!

Currently, my biggest stress is making sure all my guests that said they would put deposits down to hold the group rate that we got is driving me crazy. I cant wait to have the trip officially booked. and then my wedding party. My fiance asked a lot more guys than girls, so I compromised and asked more girls so we would be even and now some of the guys are flaking out and not assuring us is they are for sure. Dont know what i am going to do. But I have this forum and it keeps me grounded with all the other ideas, and suggestions. I was so happy that a friend of mine told me to come here.

The bigest stress for me was not giving myself enough time to plan. I had my dress well in advance but put off contacting travel agents until about 8 months before the wedding thinking I had a lot of time. Little did I know that the resort I wound up setting my heart on was almost full in April (busiest month for weddings in Cuba- who new?) and that shopping around for a good TA takes time. I truly thought for a bit that we might have to put off the wedding-luckly everything worked out and one of the only dates left in April was the one I wanted anyway.

My advice to avoid this would be start planning early and get the date at least nailed down far in advance- it's too hard to start working on the wedding if you don't have a date!

LOL I can totally relate to your post, only it's my dad who had all the big plans for what I "should really" be doing! I'm spending quite a bit of time trying to curb his energy while not offending him. I'm the youngest in the family and the first girl to be married so he's been waiting a long time to bask in this wedding bliss!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
