Biggest Destination Wedding Stress factor - what's yours?

Recommended Posts

I feel like my stressors are changing daily now that I am down to the wire. The stressor for today is the manager of the hotel (who is also coordinating the wedding) being out on a business trip until Monday. I emailed her on Monday and was told she would be out until Tuesday and would get back to me then. Nothing. I am sure it will all work out in the end but right now it's causing me anxiety sad.gif

now that we've chosen the resort and are soooo happy with our choice, I would have to say that the stress has now changed to all the negativety we're getting for our choice....and well having a destination wedding in general. I had no idea that people felt that their opinions counted more than ours! I can say I wish I was prepared for it, but I don't think anyone can.....at the end of the day i know the important people will be there!

My biggest stressor right now is actually getting this thing BOOKED. I'm terrified the prices will skyrocket before everyone is booked, and then I'll feel guilty for people having to pay more.. My fiance is already on "Island Time" and is "no worries, Mon" about everything. I, however, want to get everything in place so I can stop worrying about it. I'm sure then I will find something else to worry about wink.gif

Picking a resort that will be affordable for my guests. My family does not travel and many are going to be traveling for the first time so I need their AI package to be affordable and enjoyable for everyone. I wish AI pricing was out NOW.

for me, my budget is the biggest stressor.

i am happy to keep things pretty small, but my FI wants to invite everyone he has ever met!!

...we have a non-existantly small budget, so the fewer people there are..the better it would be for us..

he is also on Island Time and believes that there is no need to stress and it will all "just work out"....eeeek!

My biggest stress in all of this has been getting people to book and the worry of people not booking. I wish I could just do it for them. It's hard because we're across the country from most of our friends and family. I think if we were seeing them all the time, it might be a littler easier and almost a reminder to them but we're not... hence the reason we chose a destination wedding.

Looks like Im in the same boat as most here that my main stress factor is getting guests to book their trips. My TA told me that most requested quotes, but no one actually booking. Really hoping they realize that prices go up as time goes by. So far 6 out of 25 guests has actually booked. They have 7 months left, so hopefully things change in next 2 months or so??

The 2nd would have to be picking a dress.

Too many people deciding they either can't afford it, don't like mexico, or are too afraid to fly (FI's grandma). Not to mention my photographer backed out 2 days ago because she no longer wants to shoot destination weddings!

But even with all of that, I am still excited because I will have those who are most important to me there and I will be having the wedding of my dreams.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
