To my Ringless/ Yet to be engaged Ladies...

Even though I knew we would get married, we had made other plans regarding it! About a week before he proposed, we had decided to book a trip to NYC and get married at city hall... nothing huge, we are pretty low-key! So when he proposed about a week after (like I said), I was shocked! I was not expecting an engagement or an engagement ring, we were just going to buy me a set! I am still getting a set to replace my ring (upgrade ya! haha) but this way is so much more fun!

It's hard to say "be patient" to an expectant bride to be!

We had been together for over 8 years when he proposed (together for 10 by the time our wedding rolls around grrr back to zero)

I did know it was coming, but then I also talked my way out of hoping at the same time. When he did propose, I was still so surprised! I actually thought he proposed and didn't have a ring (thought it was spur of the moment for him and I also wasn't wearing my glasses AND he asked during siesta time).

The whole point of my story is... no matter how much you are expecting, I think it is always a wonderful surprise! :)

  • 1 month later...

With FI and I, we had talked about getting married after we bought a house and moved into together and had gone ring shopping together. It was about 6months after we moved in together. He knew what kind of ring I liked, however I think the price of a ring had knocked him backwards. Life took over for us and we got really busy and we didn't really bring it up again for months.

My 40th birthday came and went, Xmas and New years came and went. I just thought to myself he isn't going to ask and I knew we had spent a ton of money on our new house. In February just over a year after we had bought the house we took a vacation in Costa Rica.. huge vacation for us 2 and half weeks and we toured Costa Rica, it was amazing... Valentines morning the last day of our vacation, we're watching the sun come up on the beach in Tamarindo, so beautiful we walked to the edge of the water and he asked me to put my footprint in the sand next to his. I did and he asked me to close my eyeshe wanted to write something next to our footprints. I did and when I opened my eyes he had writen " I love you" and a heart surrounded our footprints. He was then on one knee infront of me, I struggling to get the camera out of his hands to take a picture of this little token of love... I was totally taken of guard and blown away... he asked and I did say yes!!!!!!

I knew it was coming because the ring store called our house!! He got it in April and didn't propose until the end of July!! It was three months of wondering if "this is it" everytime we went somewhere or did something "special". I was actually surprised because it wasn't at all how I thought it would be and he kept throwing me off course :)

Even if you know it's coming, it doesn't take away from the moment at all!

Although my BF and I haven't gotten engaged yet, we share a bank account. It makes things really easy for me planning things financially, but it doesn't leave my BF with a whole lot of ways to surprise me. I"m thinking he has some tricks up his sleeve, and now I wait! He told me it's happening this year....I just have no idea when

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
