Good hamburger recipe - needed ASAP please! :)

So we're having about 20 family members over tomorrow for a bbq on our new grill! We're serving hamburgers and hot dogs but I've never made hamburgers on my own before. I need a good solid recipe. My FMIL told me some ingredients to toss in (worschester sauce, garlic & onion powder, pepper) but didn't say how much. We bought 10 lbs. so I really need a recipe to follow in order to make them balanced and tasty.

P.S. I'll google too, but first I just wanted to check with y'all to see if you have any yummy, tried-and-true recipes.

Ooh I'm bad at measurements but those ingredients you have work well. Worschester is really good in burgers, so are grated onions because you don't bite into chunks but the flavor is good and it adds moisture. If you like blue cheese it's yummy to add a little to the center of the burgers too. When they are cooked it is melted and so good (you could use any cheese for that matter). Have a fun BBQ!!

Jamie, I agree with your FMIL--- those are pretty basic ingredients for a good burger. I peronsally, never measure anything when I cook, but that's usually because I make things up as I go.... but if I had to put quantites to the ingredients, start with about 2 TBPS of worchestershire sauce, 1 TBPS of garlic power, and a teaspoon of pepper/salt... (all per pound).... you want to see the hamburger meat discolor slightly from the worchestershire sauce, but still retain their solidity so they don't fall apart on the grill.

 

One of my favorite things to do with burgers is to mix about 1/4 cup of bread crumbs into the mix, 1 egg, about 1/4 Cup chunky salsa and a handful or so of shredded cheddar chesse....

 

Also, throw some veggies on the grill too--- halve some onions and put them on the grill with some green peppers and that will spice up the burgers too.

 

We cook everything on the grill in the summer---- hell, we've even grilled pizzas before (with homemade pizza dough baking on the grill, as well as all the veggies, meat, cheese, etc...).... It's one of our favorite ways to cook even in the winter...

Haha, that's what she said too (about not measuring when you cook and making it up as you go) but unfortunately I can't really do that since it's my first time and I can't taste the raw meat to see if it's ok.

Thanks ladies, the hamburgers are made and waiting in the fridge. Now we just have to wait and cross our fingers, lol! I also made and decorated a cake and cut all the toppings for the burgers. I think that's the most cooking/prep work I've done in one night ever! cheer2.gif

 

Oh, and I found out Ollie LOVES tomatoes! Haha

Mmm....Maria we've never tried grilling pizza but why not? Sounds great. We grill year round out here too, I guess it helps that it never rains. Few things beat the smell of grilling food!

Jaime good prep work, it will make the day of so much easier. I'm sure your burgers will come out very tasty!

We also grill year round, and what is impressive about that is not even snow, and 40 below temps, keep us from grillin our fave foods.

Give it a try---- there's nothing that beats a grilled pizza! All you have to do is roll the dough out to about 1/4" thick, then throw it on the grill for 2 minutes. When you flip the dough over, immediately load up your toppings and close the lid for another 2 minutes. Viola! It's done and it's fabulous tasting!!!

We try anything we can on the grill---- even veggies sauteed in butter, or a red wine sauce to top some rib-eyes. I love to "create" food on my own and when FI started really getting into the grill, I modified my stove/oven recipes to fit the grill...
