Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Well said Tris!

Everyone idea of the BIG day is different...  I personally want a simple dress, simple decorations, simple wedding. I want it to be about where we are, who are with and the commitment we are making. I like photos, I like to keep them in albums, it's memories of good times... I'm a bit sentimental but cannot afford to splurge... so going with the hotel photograph and will be asking to family to take some as well. I'm sure they'll be happy too.

Tris, I totally agree with you!  There aren't many things we're splurging on for the wedding because for us, the whole point of going to Jamaica is to keep it simple and to focus on what really matters.  (And to be able to afford buying a house LOL)  We're not doing flowers, no centrepieces, no big fancy $50k wedding in Toronto...the only thing we feel is worth splurging on are beautiful photos, because it's the only thing we can look back at 50 years from now.  And to show my future grandkids LOL.  The last thing we want is to come home from a beautiful wedding and have crappy pictures to show for it, so I think we're gonna bring a photographer from Toronto because his pictures are amazing.  (www.unionphoto.ca).

Union Photo had a photo booth at our friend's wedding in Casa Loma. Great work! Excellent Choice!

Akua - Do you have to contact the hotel photographer yourself or go through Beverly?

Spending $2500 for pictures is cringe worthy to me, there is NO WAY I could throw away that much money on 3 pictures.  I'm not a scrapbooker, I'm not going to have albums full of pictures, I want a few nice shots.  I'm only going to get one printed for the house, and send the same one with my canadian invites.  Plus my dad is buying a super expensive camera, so I'm sure he's going to take TONS, hahaha.

Hey Ladies,
I've been waiting for 3 months now to get the prices of the packages back from the TA and finally have them... I'm not impressed as she told us the going rate was $500 less than the actual price she quoted us to pay. We have a group of about 45 people going but don't feel like i'm getting much of a deal.
Can I ask what travel agency most of you ladies went with? and approx price you were quoted?

I'm living in Western Canada right now and half of our group is leaving from there and the other half from eastern Canada.

everyone is going from Toronto so I don't have eastern or western, but we were originally quoted 1606 txs included and locked in on that price because we were given a price guarantee that we could change it if the price dropped. It was good until up to 60 days before departure and with like less than a week to go the price dropped like $150 and the tour operator (transat) was nice and gave up $200 off so everyone ended up paying 1406pp! But as for not feeling like you got a deal I feel the same as you. Transat only gave us the extra $50 pp off because I complained saying what was the point in getting everyone to book with your company when I can get that same price from say Air Canada which I'd rather fly with anyways because I find their planes bigger and has more amenities (I loooove the personal TV's!!) so thats why they beat the best price online, which with about 40 days to go until we leave is still the best published price....so whoever you go with fight them for the best price you can get!!

On another note....I know this is a random question but has anyone found out about how long it takes to walk down the aisle because it looks long and I want to make sure my ceremony songs will be long enough, plus I want a seperate one from the rest of the bridal party so I'd like it to run smoothly!

We have about 45 people going aswell and for a week it's $1550 everything included and 10 days is $1950 everything included.  Our travel agent is giving us every 11th person free, so basically they will give us a dollar amount of how much we have as a credit because of the amount of people going.  As of right now we have our 10 day trip paid for both of us and are splitting the remaining credit between the bridal party so they should each(6 of them) get off about $500 each.  We are flying with Air Canada but have to take a connecting flight from Calgary to Toronto.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
