Totally understand, we are doing the same thing, it just made sense to go with that package!! :)

it's so helpful getting all of the different ideas and opinions from this site. I'm in panic mode tonight and will be on the phone to GBPJ tomorrow. After being told we could have our wedding on a certain date at a certain time I'm now being told the time isn't available - again! we've gone from the original wednesday to tuesday now possibly to friday, which is a deal breaker unless we're willing to change the time by 3 hours!! you wanna talk bridezilla.... I'm ready! I have my heart set on sunset wedding pictures. if we get married at 1pm, what the heck do we do with the photographer and everyone else for 4+ hours until the sun sets? and now I'm being told that we can only have dinner at 6. and I definitely don't want to arrive sunday and not get married until friday. has anyone else had any problem dealing with the assistant? obviously the email is a problem and it's time to get on the phone and find out what's real and what isn't. wish me luck!

the one thing I havent seen much about on here is music. I would love to rent the steel band but finances just won't allow for it. I know everyone usually has their favourite song picked out to walk downt he aisle to, but in case you're still thinking about what to put on your cd, if you have itunes do a search on reggae wedding music. it should bring up an album called Steel Drum Wedding Music, blue cover.  it has some traditional music on it along with a bit of non-traditional but it's the caribbean steel band style. no words, just the music and sounds just like the steel drums.  my FI says if we're going to the island he wants island so he picked the colours and he wants some Bob Marley.

if anyone wants a giggle, go to youtube and search for jk forever wedding entrance. it's hilarious. a couple's grand wedding entrance to the chris brown song "forever"  I can't paste a link here, sorry but watch the version that has had over 61 million hits. they were asked to appear on the today show to repeat what they did. it's fun to watch.

thanks ashley490 for the pming tip.

Hi everyone,

WOW I had a lot of catching up to do!

54 days to go for me!! We're getting married on April 7th at 2:00pm. We are going as well with the free package and are adding chair covers, ties and are considering renting the Gazebo. I know that day is available, but not all our guests have booked, so if there is a low turn out I don't really see the point of renting the gazebo... Everyone is very excited and wants to come but still many to make reservation...

Today, we are going to purchase our wedding bands and look for FI will be wearing! I hope it won't be to hard due to the fact that the spring/summer collections are not out yet!

Akua420=> the hotel sent a welcome letter before your arrival?! That's great but including the menu would have been smart. You're now so close to your wedding day!! Enjoy your time at GBPJ and congratulations to the both of you! Don't forget to tell us all about your stay and wedding day and bring lots of pictures back!!

alright, so i have a bit of a beef with these "extra" costs.  we are considering renting the gazebo for the night dance thing (only gonna have a bout 30 guests so trying to decide if worth it) but in order to rent it and have the bartender down there its $20pp PER HOUR.  so for the 2 hrs we'd be there that's $1200 (for booze) AT AN ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT!!!!!  others thoughts on this because that really disturbes me!!  i don't really know what to do anymore.  do we still rent it and just not have the bartender down there?! i have no idea what to do now......

We aren't going to rent the gazebo.  Its a great idea and would be tons of fun, however, we are only going to have about 15 people and therefore, doesnt seem worth it to us.  As well, we have chosen a Tuesday to get married and there is a beach party that night!!  I think you have to decided if its worth spending that much money.  For us it wasn't.

I'm not sure what other options you would have.  We are doing ours right after our ceremony.

I just got an email back from the assistance planner.  Here are the questions I asked with answer.  Hope this will help someone.

Hi there,

1. We have decided to use the free package which includes 5 pictures from the resort photographer.  We are using a different photographer and therefore, dont need the resort photographer. Can we substitute something else for that such as chair covers or chair bows? Please note that we cannot offer a substitution should you not wish to have the photos that comes with the package.

2. The free package does not include transportation to the ceremony site.  How much would it cost if we wanted transportation to the ceremony site? Even though it is not stated in the package we do offer transportation for the bride and bridesmaids to the ceremony location.

3.  We want to do a sand ceremony.  Are we allowed to use sand from the beach or is this not allowed? This is permitted

4. Do you need the long form of birth certificate or just the wallet sized one? You may use the wallet sized one.

5.  We have some people who have severe food allergies, what do we do about this and do we have to pay for a separate dinner for them?  Please advise us of the food allergies so that special arrangements can be made. This would be at no additional cost.

6. Do we receive our marriage certificate right after the ceremony or is it mailed to us? This is mailed within 2 months of the wedding date.

JayKay - I know that a lot of brides have said that when they didn't use something that was included in the package they were able to substitute. The email I got back said it "depended on the package", so my guess is that if you're paying them they're willing to give you something else, but if you're going with the free option it's kind of "you get what you paid for"... that's the impression I got.

We're also doing our first dance right after we get married. I think I'd rather do the cake after dinner though. And we're still unsure of the boquet/garter toss. We were expecting more people to come but many have been dropping out and as of right now it's us and 15 guests. Seems silly to throw a boquet at my 2 bridesmaids & 2 single friends, and the garter at literally the 1 single guy (best man), haha.

Yeah we kind of realized this, however, you never know until you ask!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
