Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hello! I'm a May 2014 bride at this resort (may 19th) they don't have their pricing for 2014 yet but I am doing a private reception at their outdoor location (piscis beach restaurant) and the 2013 prices are 1700$ for the venue for 4 hours and includes dinner and the dj. I believe beer, soft drinks and wine are included however there is an extra charge per person for open bar liquor. Hope that helps!
Donalee emailed me today, they do not have 2014 prices yet and she is unable to give me an estimation of when they will be available (Chandlyn told me back in December she's have then by February..)

Hey ladies...I'll be getting married in January 2014...and I cant wait! Thanks again everyone for all the helpfull advice...this site has made the planning process so much smoother :) I have rented the Gazebo and DJ for the after dinner party/dance. Can anyone tell me if this is the same gazebo that you get married in? As well, does the resort set up any decorations, lighting in the gazebo? Thank you!
Hi... Can I ask how much extra you paid for your DJ? Or was it included in the private reception cost?

The catameran cruise is a great idea, I thought of that and called them for some info but I just dont want my guest to pay $40 per person to go on and I can't really afford to pay that for them :( I actually thought there was a deal with the cruise. Lunch is a good idea, hopefully that is an option cause I know they said you can't have an early supper. Thanks for replying to me!! Hoping i figure it out soon and book otherwise I will be stressed about it. Thanks!!

Thanks Samantha for letting me know it's $40 per person.  I still haven't heard anything back from the resort.  O to always live on Jamaica time!!

I'm just trying to keep my expenses down so I can afford it.  Plus I negotiated every 12th person free through the TA so I can use that money towards the wedding costs.  Although, I just noticed the chair covers are $5 each tonight.  Otherwise I think they're ugly banquet chairs.  Everything keeps adding up!

I

Everytime I email them someone new responds...stephany, deandra, chadlyn, some guy I spoke with on phone when I finally called, cause I was getting confused but nobody has asked me for money or deposit yet. I should ask about that cause I don't want them giving away my date. They gave away my date twice already then I canceled because I found out easter was that week...so I have to reschedule y week. As far as the reception....should I book the restaurant I want now for April 2014 or is it to early? I am also getting married April 2014 and it is confirmed but I never put a deposit down either?!? And I've also been confirmed at the piscis restaurant for our reception so I believe now is ok to reserve.

How did you negotiate the free person with your TA?  I see that lots of brides are getting that deal, and some brides have even gotten their trip and their FI's trip free (paying taxes only).  I want to talk to my TA about this...and just wondering...do you know what wholesaler or airlines you are dealing with?  I think we are flying with AirCanada.  Does anyone know if someone can get a similar deal with AirCanada?

Which one is the free one.

So I was a bit disappointed (but not surprised) with how the free bouquets look so I emailed Tai Flora and told them that I didn't need a bout for the groom, so how much would they charge me to upgrade to bouquet #64 and they said it would be another $119!  And I sent them the photo below to quote on doing these and they charge $33 each for them (although I'm going to bring them myself and spend maybe $10 each on them).  Thought I would share! Does the GBP only deal with Tai Flora?  There are so many nicer florists in Jamaica.  If I was spending another $120 on the bouquet, I would expect something incredible! LL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
