Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

hey gals! along the lines of birth certificate...I wasn't born in Canada, and to make things even more complicated, my name on my birth certificate doesn't exactly match my name on my Canadian passport (birth certificate has middle+last name, passport has first+middle+last name). Do you know if this would cause any issues?

on a side note - does GBP's spa offer bridal hair & makeup? I was on the website and it doesn't look like they do....I was hoping to keep things simple and go with whatever the resort offers

thank~~~~~~~~

I think your best bet would be to get in contact with the jamaican consulate to see what they say. I dont see the name on the passport/birth certificate not matching perfectly mattering because you don't need the passport to get married just the certificate.

As for the spa, I'm pretty sure they offer both, definatly the hair though because in the package I'm getting it has a hair trial and day of hair do included in the package. I didn't ask about the makeup though because one of my friends is a make-up artist so she'll be doing that for me as a gift.

Here are a few things she told me:

You can rent out the gazebo without the DJ for $250, just have to get the sound system set up seperatly (although I'm not sure what that means..). Dinner doesn't start until 6:30, and she said you prob need 2 hrs for it (so renting the gazebo earlier than 8:30 doesn't really work). She also told me that they do not allow outside liquor to be served at the resort, so you cannot set up your own bar at the gazebo (you have to pay $15p/p/hr).

The brochures that I had posted about previously came from the resort. My TA contacted them and they offered to send us a bunch. I'll try to scan it in tonight but I"m not sure if the printer is unpacked yet! :)
I wonder what she meant by setting the sound system up yourself...I should ask as we have many capable people..as you pay like $250 more for the damn dj for the night.

@katelynn...let me know if you find anything out about that bc I'm in the same boat. Plus I read somewhere that if the DJ is supposed to play anywhere else at the resort that night, he potentially could leave early to go set up there...not cool.

When you guys submitted your info to reserve a date, did Beverly get back to you and tell you it is definitely yours? I want to send out our save the dates but can't until I get a definite YES on our date! And of course, Beverly has gone MIA again sad.gif

I emailed Beverly to make sure the date I wanted was available. She responded quickly that she needed our full names to book the date. I sent her the info and she sent me an email confirming the date and time within a couple of hours. She hasn't asked for any kind of deposit yet, but we are putting our trip deposit down with the TA today, so maybe once that is booked Beverly will want our wedding pkg deposits?

I faxed in my credit info to beverly after she confirmed my date but she said don't worry if the depoist doesnt come out, which it hasnt. Good luck trying to get a hold of her again after everything is confimred though. I sent her an email over a month ago and still haven't heard back from her...she was great in the start but things have quickly gone south. I'm not really stressing though because it seems pretty straight forward that most of the stuff is delt with once you get down there but it would stil be nice to hear from her lol.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
