Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

so here is a little tidbit of info for anyone that still has not firmed up their travel quote. I'm so frustrated over this part of it that I might just scream at somebody!!

I found a TA this morning - Marlin Travel in downtown Toronto where I work and they declare themselves "destination wedding and honeymoon specialists". she gave me a few good reasons but one of the key things is they deal with Transat and Nolitours - if you're looking for good rates, they are 2 of the best. the second thing is if you're an air miles collector, or any of your guests are, they can use their air miles toward their trip and bring the costs down.  she said 800 air miles = $100 up to a maximum of $400 per person if they have enough to get that much obviously, and in our case where we're trying to get costs down for our kids, we can purchase the certificates and help the kids out with their costs because you just apply the certs to the final balance, which isn't due generally until 60 days prior to departure!!  I think most people collect air miles, and if you don't this is a good reason to start. they can wrack up pretty darn quick depending on where you get gas, if you shop at Metro, Rona, any of those stores.  well worth it I think.

I would definitely like to know about the new rates as to a late 2011 wedding November. that's pretty darn close to 2012 lol  if anyone gets an answer, I'd love to hear it for sure. the same would apply to us - we could do other things if we were saving.

Yep, same here.  I asked Chandlyn about it this morning so whenever she actually gets back to me I'll let you know what she says!

We just received our group rates for Jan 2012 from our TA and we are using Transat.  Originally we were quoted 1855 from Sunquest and 2095 from transat with departure from Calgary for one week all inclusive.  Our TA said she has only had problems with sunquest and recommended Transat, so she went to Transat and asked if they would match Sunquests price.  They came back slightly cheaper so we are paying 1830 per person per week all inclusive from Calgary.  We were also quoted for the Royal Golden which is 2095 per person per week all inclusive.  I don't know if its work paying the 265 per week extra for Royal Golden but we have left the option open to our guests.

For those of you who have been there and upgraded did you feel it was worth it?

I would totally talk to Chandalyn if you are getting married in 2011... My wedding date is 9-10-11 and she is giving me the $200 minister fee price.. here is what she wrote on Tuesday...

From Me to Chandlyn and her answer: I asked Beverly if we could do the free package but she said we would still have to pay judges fees. I asked her if we could get around the fees since we were already legally married but she never got back to me (I think this is when she resigned.)You may do the free package which now attracts a fee of US200

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
