Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I just returned from there last month. There are 2 parts to this beach. One by the Gazebo with is rocky and good for snorkeling, but its quiet and private which is great for a wedding. The main part of the beach in my opinion is great. There are lots of palapas for shade and sun loungers, and failing that trees for shade. The beach is man made but it is beautiful......not Negril by any means but still awesome. You can walk out in the water up to your neck, its very protected and I did not encounter many rocks there. It all depends on which part of the beach you are at I expect. I was at the Don Pablo section which is faily close to the Jerk Chicken Hut "Pisces". It's great if you have floaties too......just make sure you have lots of sun lotion on!!!! lol

@JAYKAY Could you tell me which poolside bar you went too? I am thinking of doing something other than the Gazebo too and this sounds like a great idea. That or the Lobby bar where they have evening entertainment anyhow.....which is ok for us Older brides!!!! lol Barb

Why pay to get married twice!!!!! Even if you get married at your home you still have to pay when you get to the resort. It would be a symbolic ceremony only which yes you do sign papers but they are not legit...lol. Lots of brides going to Mexico do this because of the legalities down there, but Jamaica is fine...... I had considered this scenario too, but it just didin't sit well with me not getting officially married in Jamaica with all my friends and family paying so much to be there for me...... Not to mention, I wnat the day I say "I DO" to be the real deal......Just my opinion :)

Hi, Its quite a walk from the piscis restaurant to the other bars by the pool and lobby for your guests to get drinks. This is the same situation for the gazebo. I feel it's a bit of a rip off that you pay all that money for the rental of the private facility but you still have to pay for the bar and bartender!!!!! Especially since it is an all inclusive resort. The fact that you bring so many guests to their hotel should be a huge consideration on their part. Barb

We rented the Gazebo for 2 hours for $ 500 US.  We felt it was the best decision. We had so much fun with our guests and it was private and got to have our first dance, father daughter, and mother son dance, that was our main reason for renting the gazebo was to have these dances as it meant a lot to us. We actually showed up to the gazebo early after we got done our supper and they had already started playing the music, they had a light show set up which we didnt know was included. And they were supossed to only stay for 2 hours but it was about 4 hours and we started to get tired so we said we had enough. I brought my own music but I liked what they were playng so I only had them play our Dance songs for us. At our meeting with Donnalee prior we asked if we could have a bowl of rum punch at the Gazebo as I think JAYKAY had posted about that on here. So Donnalee said she would look into it. When we got to the gazebo they had a table with ice, cups and rum punch and my husband asked the guys if we gave them a tip (I think Neil gave him 20 bucks) if they would bring some beer and more liquor and they jumped on it, he even served it to us......so to us it was well worth the $500

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
