What are you ladies doing about a cake?  Are you bringing a desired design?  Do they even allow you to do that?huh.gif

We sent payment to Beverly...she has not charged us yet...which seems to be the norm, but she sent confirmation to our TA that she got the info...So we will keep our fingers crossed!

Ya that's completely normal. It took her a few weeks to put through our payment... not to mention us calling her and telling her to TAKE OUR MONEY! Haha.

This is the first time someone has taken so long to take a deposit, it's strange...

Hello Ladies :)

I just stumbled across this site last night while i was stressing about my wedding. You guys have completely saved my sanity! I stayed up till 3:30 in the morning reading this thread and you've answered sooo many questions of mine- as well as made me think of so many other things i wouldn't have thought of. I'm getting married at GBP on April 22,2011. From the sounds of it there will be several of you there around the same time :)

I'm so glad i now have a clear idea of how the day will go- because i had absolutely no idea how it would be set up before last night. We booked our trip back in the beginning of August, and our groups rsvp's all need to be in by Nov.1.  I'm so much more excited for our trip now that i've heard such awesome reviews and seen such beautiful pictures!!!! I haven't spoken to Beverly at all yet, all my emails seem to be replied by Chandlyn. So far she's been good at getting back to us in a decent time.

Anyways, i just wanted to say thanks for giving me the questions i should be asking her and thanks for giving me some peace of mind so that maybe i can sleep tonight wink.gif

.....my big worry now is if anyone else has the same date as me. I want the gazebo that night! hahaha

I'm getting married at the GBP in April 2011, and this thread/forum has been a lifesaver!  Although I feel like a slacker compared to most of you - you're all shaming me into doing much more than I thought I would for a DW wink.gif But there are just so many great ideas!!  Anyone else going to be there from April 1-8?

Wow thank god this website exist!! This is so GREAT! Without having talk to Beverly about it, i already have an idea of what the flowers looks like, the cost, the restaurants etc. Now my only concern is does the "Free wedding package" exist? i have seen a few post saying that its discontinued.

About two weeks ago (when i first inquired about the wedding), the WC sent me a document. It's called " Wedding_Package_with_incl_2010_-_2011". So hopefully it is still applicable.

I think that StephAli, asked about that. Did you get an answer?

BTW- I'm getting married on April 7Th!!

Hi Schayer - we get married on April 5 so we'll be there at the same time!!!

With regards to the free package, I was also told it doesn't exist.  I booked mine at the beginning of July, and we went with the Sunshine Package - I think this used to be the free one (it is the most basic) but now it costs $1100.  Too bad I didn't get engaged a few months earlier!

Katelynn - I emailed Beverly to get the menu options a few weeks ago, but haven't received a reponse.  I'll post it if I ever hear back.....

Hi ladies!! FINALLY have a response from Beverly...(I emailed her in AUGUST!)  Oh well, at least all of you are keeping me calm when I have to wait months for a response! lol.  Here is what I found out and she sent a long a few pictures.  Hope this helps!

Hi Beverly!

How are you?  I Hope that you are having a nice summer.  I was just wondering since we reserved our date for July 23, 2011, what was the next step?  Do we need to put a deposit on our package?  Just want to make sure we stay on track of what we need to do to make sure our date doesn't get dropped.   Also, I have just a few other questions..  Please be advised that a deposit of 25% on the wedding package selected will be required at least 3 months into your wedding. I have attached a credit card form which should be filled out and returned to us during that time. The credit card payment - we will require a copy of id and credit card copy of the holder.      Sorry ladies, I don't have the form bc she forgot to attach it but when she does I'll put it on here!

--How do I confirm that I will definitely have the gazebo for our wedding reception on July 23, 2011?  I just want to make sure that we are able to use the reception venue that we are expecting and hoping for.  The gazebo is already confirmed for you for your special day.

--At the gazebo for the reception are there lights down there?  Is there places to plug stuff in?  I was wondering if we could bring some sort of lanterns or anything to be strung up in the gazebo.  The wedding ceremony will take place at the gazebo and by reception I am taking it that you are confirming the gazebo for dance and party for the evening.  Dinner reception will be held at one of our a la carte dinning rooms in a semi private area.    I dont think she understood my question...so do any of you know if we can put up lights or strands of lanterns??

--If we choose to rent just the gazebo (no DJ) do we need to bring our own cd/ipod player or will there be a sound system set up down there?  You do have the choices of bringing your own cd and ipod as a backup or the dj normally plays for the evening from his own selections.

--Can we play music at dinner?  (If we bring our own player).  Music will not be allowed at the dinner area as it is a semi private dinner and not private to the group, unless you wish to have the area closed out to the group entirely.  Close out fee ONLY is USD2500.00 not inclusive of dinner or wedding packages.

--Can you please give me some references for a steel drum band?  We are interested in hiring one for the ceremony and a little bit after the ceremony. Do we reserve this or do you? The resort will be delighted in reserving our very reputable steel band .  Kindly reconfirm the steel band request closer to the wedding.

--After the ceremony, what happens?  We are having a 2:30 ceremony and I've been told by another GBP bride that immediately after the ceremony there is champagne and you cut your cake?  As well as first dances?  I was wondering if you could give me a schedule so that I can know for our programs and for our photographer in advance of arriving in Jamaica.ORDER OF CEREMONY

Musical Prelude
Procession
Greeting & Prayer
Exchange of Vows
Prayer
Exchange of Rings
Signing of Register (Duet “After All – will be sung by soloists)
Pronouncement
Recession
Champagne reception
Cutting of the wedding Cake
First dance of the bride and groom
Photos
Dinner.

--How does it work for the gazebo reception if we just buy alcohol from the resort instead of paying the $15p/p/hr for a bar to be set up?  The alcohol can be purchased from the resort, however the cost of USD15.00 pp per hour, comes with the service of your own bar tender.  The cost will then be applied separately

--Could you send me the pictures for bouquets that are available?  Please find sample bouquets inclusive in your wedding package.  Please find that you can upgrade your flowers and arrangements by visiting our florist website at www.taiflora.com  Please find that in the gazebo decor centrepieces and chair ties are not inclusive.

--What are our options for the semi-private dinner?  Do you have pictures of the restaurants?  The Options for dinner will be the Grill steak house and the Dolce Vita Italian restaurant.  Photo will be provided shortly.

--Will we know the menu before arriving in Jamaica?  (I would like to print menus before hand so I wasn't sure if that was an option or not).  Menus will be provided closer to the wedding date at least one month as the menus are only provided based on the restaurant that is available for the evening.  The resort does print menus on your behalf as well.  If you wish to bring along special papers of your color coordination, please feel free to do so.

Here  are the pictures she sent:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
