Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I would say definately wait if you can.  We ended up rushing and booking early and in the end we spent more money then we could have.  Rates decreased quite a lot from the time we booked (April 11) for our January wedding.  And dont trust direct flights with Air Transat.  We were supposed to have direct flights from Calgary, and last week learned they no longer are direct.  And in the last week transat has made about 4 changes to our flight schedule.

We were really wanting to go when it is colder here to get away(jan-march). I dont think June would work for us, but its good to know the huge price difference.  My self and my fiance and some others realize that Jamaica is not as cheap as mexico, but i think there intitial reaction to the cost will be to compare it to our friends wedding :|. My TA said it is definately possible for the rates to go down and that she will try to have some kind of bidding war betweeen air transat and sunquest( thats if they are both operating out of edmonton in 2013)

Thanks for the rates you got and the advice!!

Your best bet is to deal directly with the florist and not the resort.  Donnalee isn't the best for correct information. The freebies are set and they won't allow you to change, but there are several options available. The resort told me 3 when I asked, but Tai Flora said no, there were several different options. The catalogue I think is dated 2007 or thereabouts and that's the one that they are still using.

If you want to pm me your email, I can send your the catalog that I received from Donnalee.  However, I noticed it was a few years old, so I have an email into Tai Floral to confirm if it is up to date and if the colours of the free bouquets can be changed or if they are as is.  The free ones aren't the nicest looking but there is a few that are not too bad but just don't work with the colours I chose.  Smart of you to choose your colours around what is offered for free.

Thanks acw271011, the 2007 is the catalog that was sent.  I know you had mentioned before that they do not change them but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.  I also inquired to them about ribbon colours available and what bouts come with the package, are you aware what they may be?

take the flowers that are in the bouquet and the bouts match. if it's roses, you get roses, if it's orchids you get an orchid, etc. but they also have a separate catalogue for bouts, flower girls, etc. the lady's name is Jennivie Wisdom and she is an absolute sweetheart to deal with

For Brides who have used the gazebo after for a dance and had the DJ, did anyone bring an ipod and have them use that for a few of the dances?

I am loading my ipod with music and just want to make sure that they have the connections for it, or else I will bring them with me!

Thanks!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
