Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I'm so excited because finally, after a month and a half of back and forth with TAs, the resort, etc...We finally have a date settled...ALMOST. I just need to send in my deposit but most likely we will be getting married June 20, 2012. Yay! Feels like a huge weight has been lifted!

Just booked for June 2, 2012 at 4pm!!!! I'm soooo excited! I'm having a bit of a struggle getting timely answers from the Donnalee though. I'm sure she's busy, but I freak out if I don't hear any thing! I'm about a year out, have to still set a guest list, but at least the date is secure!!!! ^_^ I have been looking at Marcia Roberts for photos and a TTD, but I have not confirmed with her yet.

I've been reading that I need to try to book the reception restaurant soon, where can I find a list of restaurants?

-Any other advise ladies?!?! What should I be doing next?! :-)

Congrats!  I'm sure Donnalee will send you this eventually, but here are the restaurants and their menus that you can choose if you want a semi-private reception.  And you can mix and match menu items rather than pick one entire selection.  This is included in your all inclusive rate.  If you choose to have a private reception, the cost is $2500 I believe.

Dolce Vita Restaurant

MENU No 1

Cream of Tomato and fresh Basil Spinach Ravioli with Sauce "Boscaila" Beef Scalloppini with Fungi Sauce Porcini Tiramisu

MENU No 2

Minestrone Soup Neapolitan Penne Rigatto Seafood Choppino Panna cotta

MENU No 3

Caprese Salad Cream of Roasted Squash and Thyme Chicken breast with ricotta, walnuts and bacon - basil - risotto crunch Profiteroles with Cream and Chocolate Coulis

Garden Grill Restaurant

MENU No 1

Coleslaw Salad Onion Soup au Gratin with Bread Crouton Mix Grill Cheese cake

MENU No 2

Caesar salad with chicken Beef and Vegetable Soup Snapper with Balsamic Sauce and Tequila Reduction Lemon pie

MENU No 3

Blue Cheese Salad Mexican Tortilla Soup Grilled Lamb Chops with Baked Potatoes Apple crumbleMENUS FOR GROUPS - WEDDINGS

If you're wanting to book entertainment for your reception/ceremony or if you're wanting to book the DJs or bartenders for a reception after dinner, I would request those soon as well!  As they often have 2+ weddings on the same day, they can get booked up quickly!   Good luck!

Welcome new brides & congrats!!  Tons of info on here, def read this thread and you'll know everything!  Don't stress about not hearing from GBP, they are super busy and on "Jamaica time" but they usually respond after I re-send emails if I haven't heard anything from them for a few weeks.  Can't believe that over a year and a half ago I was in your position...now I'm less than a month away!  Good luck planning and have fun!!

For those who have already celebrated their weddings, I was hoping to get some comments on the spa's hair and makeup services.  I am torn between using the spa and hiring someone offsite.

In my investigations thus far, the costs for the hair and makeup application seems about the same either way, but there additional costs for travel and daypasses for the external artists.  The advantages to doing it at the resort are that you get a hair and makeup trial before the big day, and they have been so cooperative in booking our group.  The advantage to having the external person is that they can do airbrush foundation which is super light and we could get it all done in our room without having to trek to the spa.

What are you ladies doing?  What experiences have you had at the spa thus far?

Thanks a bunch!

@MrsAprilDewees- I suggest you hold off on booking a restaurant, you may not even be able to book this early. Their restaurants aren't all open all the time so she may tell you to wait closer to your date to pick a restaurant. Also, don't get worried about returning emails. They are super busy but usually take about 2 weeks to answer mine and my wedding is 75 days away :) If my email isn't answered within 2 weeks I usually just re-send.

@BusyBee123You only have to purchase day passes if you are inviting the hair/make up person to attend the ceremony/reception. You don't have to pay for them to simply come to your room and do their service.

I've heard good things from a friend who got married there last year about the hair and make up people. And yes, you can get the trial before as long as you book it.

Wow wow wow!!!!!!!!

I just came back!!!! Girls, you will love it!!!!

My wedding was tuesday the 14 of june. We had 78 people at the wedding. Everyone was dress turquoise and white, wow it so beautiful in the picture. We had the Grill for reception, it was good, but no Air conditioner... lololol( i think there had a problem with the AC)!!!. We decided to rent the Gazebo for the dance, that's was the best move we did! We had a mix on the IPod! After the Gazebo we went to the disco and then to the burger place. We went to sleep at 5 am.... tired!!! lolol

For the wedding we had a own decoration. We had a own preacher (my best friend), we didn't have to go in the spa to do a own hair, my friend did my hair and my husband had his barber that came with us...

Here some picture

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
