Congrats Erin!! I have been thinking about all the recent brides patiently awaiting your return for some feedback! I'm so glad to hear you had a great time.  Makes me feel much better about this resort.  Now if only the next 8 months would hurry up!!

Hi Erin

Congrat!!!!

Did you rent the Gazebo for the dance? I don't know if I should rent it!

We met with Chandlyn (who is very kind and sweet btw) our meeting took all of 10 minutes to say yes no to whatever I wanted. I had brought my own chair sashes, table runners, centerpieces etc.. so I just dropped everything off at the front desk including my sand ceremony and they set everything up perfectly for me!

Wedding day she picked me up at the front lobby and drove us down the the end of the walkway to the Gazebo.

Wedding ceremony took only 15 minutes and we had NO RAIN!!!

I had the free package and had 26 people with me and didn't have to pay for chair covers but we did have to pay 25 per person for the additional people over 16 that were allowed for dinner.

dinner was at the italian, we did no speeches etc cause we wanted to keep it simple. Everyone enjoyed dinner and it was a great night.

WARNING - Hotel photographer was HORRIBLE!!! soooo glad I brought one down with me. I don't think they use a UV filter on their camera as all the pictures were hazy and it would appear they need more modern equipment.. the stabalizer on their camera was all over the place. I took the 5 pictures included in my package and that was it.. I didn't even want those 5!!

I met Tris down there and she was a sweetheart!!! I will post pics as soon as I have them uploaded. Feel free to ask any questions!!

congrats and welcome Dcamp!  My biggest suggestion would to take 2 hours and read allllll the GBP posts and take notes.  We  can all give you suggestions etc but you will find the most helpful info in here, questions you might have are most likely asked and answered and I'm sure you will learn a ton about the resort and what to expect (that is, if you haven't done this already)  I know 169 pgs is pretty daunting but it's worth it!  Good luck, you chose an amazing resort which I'm sure will not disapoint. :)

Sat the light on top of the mirror, glass on top of light, gems in bottom, water in, flower in and VOILLA!! they looked GREAT!!! and so cheap! I didn't rent the Gazebo and to be honest I'm glad I didn't.. Everyone was so exhausted from such a long day that all the "old folks" went to bed early that night and it was only us young folks left at the end of the night.

We went from dinner to the terrace bar and then that's when all the old folks dropped out. Us youngin's stayed up and went to the disco and danced all night long. It was a blast!!!

I just am glad I didn't pay the $$ for the Gazebo, it would have been a waste for my party.

Also I did not book the entire restaurant.. the sections they give you are more than private enough!

The sand ceremony, yes they set everything up for me. I dropped everything off at the front desk and even drew a diagram how my centerpieces went together.. it was perfect when I arrived.. however they did loose my centerpieces.. which wasn't a major deal cause i prob would have left them anyways.. but they DID loose them...

If you DO happen to choose the hotel photographer you MUST go see them the next day to get your pictures printed... They told me that you must give 3 days notice.. and if you get married within the 3 days god knows how you get your photos.. I argued with the guy (who was VERY ignorant) and he finally put them on a disc for me...

I had caprese salad, penne napeleno (sp), chicken risotto, and tiramisu and it was all delish!!!

pics attached!!!

Congrats!!  You looked amazing and the wedding looked beautiful!  Just one question, how windy is it down there?  My hair will be down and i don't want it flying all over the place.  Also after your ceremony did you have your chanpagne toast and cake cutting  right after?  Was there a DJ set up to play music as you walked down?  I am going with the free package aswell and haven't really planned much and am not bringing much so i just want to make sure everything is covered!  Thanks so much, and congrats again!!

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
    • Thanks! I had it printed out. Very useful!!
