Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Thanks stacey for all the great info but now I have a few questions lol

we're doing 2:30 so I think we'll be good for sunset pics, right??  I was already warned that Jamaica time is different and that we probably won't start on time so I'm not worried yet. I've been told sunset in november is around 5:45??  we just figured we would head back after and do our best to stay out of the way of the other wedding. when you look at the area, there's tons of space!!

how much was it for the extra cake layer? we'll only have about 14 people total so that sounds like an awful lot of cake??? help??

Chandly sent me menus but the way they're set up, it sounds like you have to take what is listed? maybe because we want the Grill and not the Italian the menus are a little different?? again, help??

I only had a quick look at the new packages - they look fantastic price wise, but now I'm wondering if you have to have the number of people specified at the bottom??? does anyone know? like I said, we're only a really small group but if it means I'll get a bit more then I'll definitely pay for it but we won't meet any of the numbers they're showing, like 24 or 30 people.

along with the tomato soup. all the food was excellent.

the service was very slow but well worth it.

I recommend buying an extra layer of your wedding cake, having 3 layers was much more pretty.

what time are you getting married at?

we got married ep 330 but the wedding before us ran late, so we didn't start till almost 4. we were very rushed to get pictures of the sunset.
I would suggest a wedding time no later than 3 pm. it is just my suggestion.

do you have a photographer yet? if not may I suggest brain nejedly?

anything else you need to know feel free to ask. best wishes to you

Hi, I was told that the men do need long pants and shoes that cover their feet, no sandals, for the restaurants. Not sure about the buffet though.

Does anyone know if there is a dress code at any of the restaurants?  I know when we went to Mexico, there were some at the nicer ones where no shorts were allowed and the guys had to wear sport coats...?

Also, is there a curfew for children being in the disco and such??  Not that they would be in there all that late, but I could see some wanting to stay and dance and be terribly disappointed if they had to leave by 9 or something??!!

So, has anyone found out if we can get these new prices for this year yet? I haven't paid my deposit yet and would obviously LOVE to get the discount. Im going to email Chandlyn today and tell her that i think it's only fair. I do have a question for you guys though- does anyone know the dimentions of the gazebo? I'd like to string it with xmas lights for our reception after dinner, cuz i've heard it's pretty dark out there. I think a bunch of lights would look really pretty. I've asked Chandlyn already, but she didn't answer the question. SO annoying.

Hi ladies,

I sent an email to Chandlyn last night about the new packages.   This is the question I sent:

I seen on a forum I am signed up on that there were new wedding packages for 2012.  We have already booked our wedding date, however, our wedding date is in 2012.  Do we go by the new packages with the cheaper prices, or the current packages with the higher prices?

This is the response I got:

Please see attached packages for 2012 that would apply to all bookings(including yours) for the new year

Not quite sure what this means for you 2011 brides, but if your date is in 2012 you use the new packages.  Hope that can help someone!

Wow!  I can't believe Chandlyn answered so quickly, but either way thanks for the info.  I'm relieved  smile36.gifto know that despite having our dates booked we can still get the new prices.  Whoohoo!

Hi mekanabr.  The first time I wrote Chandlyn I was just checking in with her. I had always emailed Bev, since I first booked my wedding back in September, so I emailed Chandlyn just to make sure she had all of my info passed on to her from Bev, my wedding date, ceremony time and dinner time, and what package I had chosen.  I said I hope she was enjoying her new job, and I'm looking forward to meeting her. She wrote back a  couple of days later saying that she did have all my correspondance with Bev, and everything was still good and confirmed. And she was looking forward to meeting me as well. LOL. Then I emailed her back asking if I could choose which restaurant that my dinner would be in, and she emailed back the next day, and said that would have to wait until closer to my wedding date.
I am pleased with her emailing me back so quickly. It was a nice surprise!!

And I want to say thank you to everyone in this forum as well. I also dont know what I would do without all of the info I have learned here and all of the help I have gotten :)

Hi Ladies!  I've recently checked into having the resort put welcome baskets into each guest room instead of making my own OOT bags and trying to figure out how to get everything there.  Here's what Chandlyn's response was:

Is it possible for each guest room to have a welcome basket of goodies? This is possible at an additional cost.  If so, how much would that cost and what would be included in each basket? For a basket costing US30 each you may have coffee mug, Jamaican spices, key ring and rum

I think I might use this option instead of trying to figure out OOT bags..I'm all for things being worried about for me  lol!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
