Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

We are also using Merrick Cousley.  Chandlyn told me there would be a 75 dollar charge unless he is a guest of the hotel for the night.  I emailed Merrick and he said that the travel costs do apply as he has to stay overnight because of the distance from his home.  Therefore, you wouldn't have to pay the 75 dollars for the resort to have an outside photographer as he will be a guest, but you will still have to pay his travel fees.

all day coverage - preparation to reception

dvd with all images (300 to unlimited) high res

photo retouch

his brochure says a travel fee is applicable but in one of his emails he said it was included with my package, so I want to double check. but for $350 more you get 150 4x6 prints, 3 8x10 matted prints, a wedding album that holds 200 4x6 prints and 3 months of a family online gallery to share all the pics

so I think both are comparable in terms of price

i'm curious about the OOT bags too??? I'm trying to figure out how to transport them along with all the other stuff... and what do you do for the older people? they won't care about flip flops lol I checked on ordering travel mugs and they ain't cheap!! not when you only need a small number of them. so hey - I'm open to ideas and suggestions!!

Just out of curiousity.. when they say they want "NOTORIZED" copies sent to the hotel 2 month in advance do you think they really mean that.. ?? I sent my BC & Passport copies via email (scanned) a few weeks ago and they were NOT notorized. I haven't heard a peep from Chandlyn about this.. I'm just kinda freaking now thinking they will need something else from me??

ugh why can't they just reply to emails when they're labled URGENT... oh my nerves!!!

Tris, I know you're getting married in April too, did you send notorized copies or just regular copies?

I'm actually in the same boat! We ordered the long forms of our birth certificates and sent them in about a month back. Still haven't heard back about it. Other girls on my April forum are talking about notorized documents, but I can't find it written anywhere that these things need to be signed by a lawyer.

HELP US!

A notary does not need to be a lawyer...anyone can literally take the class to be one - costs about $300 or something like that, and you learn about legalities and ethics attached to being a notary and the responsibilities of notarizing a document.  At the end of the class, you receive your stamp and certificate.

You can find notaries at most banks, post offices and travel agencies...  But the point of notarizing these documents is to verify that the copies that you are sending down are actual copies of "legal" certificates as they can not see the raised stamp on the faxed/emailed copy.  By having a notary stamp them, for lack of better words - they become official, unofficial documents.  Often notaries are used to verify that a signature is indeed the signature of the person that it is claiming to be: ie: on legal and court documents.

We made copies of all of our documents and had them notarized (you wouldn't want the notary signature on your original - hence the copy being made) and faxed them to GBPJ.  I did this right when the change over was happening with Beverly leaving and I kinda panicked; I emailed our TA and she called down there and talked to Chandlyn.  She looked over the documents, verified that it was everything that they needed and told our TA that it was good to go.

I would suggest perhaps you ladies doing the same...as it would give you piece of mind that what you sent down to her was correct/sufficient and prevent anything unexpected from popping up when you get there...the legal stuff is the last thing that I would think that we want to have issues about!  :)  Just a suggestion?!  Plus then you know that they for sure, for sure, received your stuff!  That's not something that you want floating out somewhere...

Hi girls - here are the requirements for getting married at GBPJ - I emailed Beverly to confirm that they needed to be notiarized, cause I was just gonna send un-notarized copies, but Chandlyn replied confirming that they did need to be notarized...  It's hard when everyone seems to get conflicting information, but I guess to be safe and make sure there are no issues with getting your marraige license it really doesn't hurt to get it done...  I wouldn't stress too much about the 2 month cut off time though - I was almost 3 weeks late sending mine and they told me it was fine!

A couple of ideas I have for the OOT bags are: personalized lip balm, they are small and you can buy them in bulk online. A map of the hotel the grounds; a welcome letter outlining all events planned meeting times and places and the times and details of the wedding, and anything else about the resort or general info that you want all of your guest to know or be aware of. You can get personalized bottles of water, and travel mugs, but then you are getting into bigger items.  The face cloths are a great idea!! A list of everyones names and who they are rooming with, then once you get there fill out the hotel room numbers, so everyone knows where to find everyone else. I am ordering some biodegradable cards, that are personalized, then when the guest get back home, they plant them in a flower pot and flowers grow from them! The small fans are a cute idea too. A first aid kit, things like bandaids, sunscreen, pain killers.

I dont have it all figured out yet, but they are just some ideas.

when i talked to chandlyn about getting him in she did tell me that we had to pay the $75 for him to get in.

we too are doing OOT bags and am sooo uncertain as to what we are putting in them.  i deffinitely want to do a mug or larger cup, and we are also doing bamboo hand fans i found them at this site (blissweddingsmarket.com) they come in different sizes and colours and i think are quite cute and appropriate for a beach wedding!  i've also read on different sites that i've looked at about getting personalized tumblers (that are pretty big) from somewhere on ebay... i haven't looked yet, but from the pics i've seen online they're pretty good lookin too!  i too would be very interested in others ideas!!

hey again, yes i agree that the face clothes are a great idea as many people don't think to bring these and then they are not available once there, i've thought of the smaller stuff (lip balm etc) as well.  i'm still quite a ways out (getting married in October) so i've got some time to figure it out!  now what are peoples ideas of getting the stuff there?? i've heard of some mailing it there and leaving it up to them to put together, and others have just taken and paid for the extra luggage to get it all there when you go???

My TA / Wedding Planner sent Beverly a copy of our long form birth certificates last month and called her to make sure she recieved them and if that was all she needed and it was fine. These were not notarized but were okay, we still plan on bringing down the originals to Jamaica though just in case!!

Hey!

So you're not getting them notarized then? I'm hearing the completely opposite from so many people. Half say it's fine to not, the other half say that you NEED them notarized. I wish Chandlyn would get her story straight... I don't really want to pay a lawyers 100s of $$ for something that's unnecessary

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
