Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I would say go with the free package and add as many extras as you need. I had my wedding there last month, and had the "free" package and added everything as extra because no matter what package you want, if you want to modify something, they will charge you an arm and a leg for everything, so i found it more worth it to take everything individually. I had the buffet as well, and had a private area at the beach, we had the free open bar for the first 3 hours as they offer, and the last hour was only 3 cocktails so it came out to a lot less. However, they still gave us the full open bar for that last hour even though we paid for less, cause i think they didnt want to bother putting bottles away hehe

no problem! and yes i did, i got my hair and makeup done and absolutely loved it! i booked the appointment for my bridesmaids and i before arriving though! u just have to send them an email ;) they'll offer you the trial, which i didnt take but thats up to you. I wanted beach waves with half a pony tail so i didnt think paying a trial for that was worth it since it wasnt an updo.

My ceremony was at the beach and it was wonderful! everyone wore flats and i wore a pair of cute flat silver sandals with a bow on it...the only reason i couldnt go barefoot even though i wanted to, was because my wedding was at 2pm so the sand would have been way too hot! i hope this helps :)

For any brides getting married at Grand Bahia Runaway Bay. We were JUST there a few weeks ago. We photographed a wedding at Jewel Runaway Bay but I also look a bunch of photos of the grounds at Grand Bahia.

Check out the gallery here:

Feel free to ask us any about the resort and we'd be happy to help as much as we can <#

Hello Ladies!!

Congrats to all of you who have said "I Do" and Congrats to all of you in the process of planning!

I have started my pre-planning early as I am not getting married until May 2018.  We have guests we would like to join us but need a bit of extra time in order to save.

All of the information I have read has been so helpful and informative and I appreciate your sharing.  I have a TA already and she is working on pricing for flights and stay.  I have quite a few questions that I am hoping everyone will be able to help me with as my FI and I are paying for this ourselves and would like to have the money (or most of it all saved before hand).

1.  How did you contact the resort to notify them you were planning to get married there?  Was the initial contact through the TA?

2.  Does anyone have approximate wedding package prices?  I have copies of the packages but it does not list any pricing.  We could be looking at around 35-45 people and want a little bit of a handle on what we could be looking at for price.

3.  Everything I read lists different documentation that is required.  What is it that we will actually need to send, take with us and have notarized?  (I am from Ontario Canada)

I am so very excited and I have a long way to go... about 1 year, 10 months...lol

Thank you so very much!  I appreciate all of your comments and ideas!!

Any brides from Ontario Canada? I am just wondering what exactly I need to send before I arrive? I know a long form birth certificate and a notarized passport. How exactly do you get a notarized passport. Any help would be great as im getting married in November

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! My husband and I were married there nearly 5 years ago already! The time has gone by so quickly!

We are quite a bit older and it was second time around for both of us so we also had to include notarized divorce papers. But nothing else had to be notarized. We sent copies by email of our birth certificates (not long form) and our passports and a notarized copy of our divorce decrees and that was it. it was really easy. To get a notarized copy of any document, you need to find either a lawyer or notary public. there will be a fee for getting this done. Take your original documents to them, usually everyone needs to attend. The lawyer/notary will examine the documents and verify your identity. They will then take a copy of the documents and draw up a certificate that they attach a seal to stating that they have reviewed the documents and declare them to be a true copy. But we didn't have to send those. We emailed the birth certificate and passport copies and a copy of the divorce decrees but then took the original notarized documents with us and passed them to the wedding coordinator at the meeting.

We wanted to have our original wedding on the day, not get married at home and then have a symbolic ceremony in Jamaica and that's the reason we chose Jamaica. Having a legal wedding in Jamaica is much easier than Mexico. You don't have to be there as many days in advance as you do for Mexico, nor have a blood test. It was definitely worth it.

Do you have any pics of your wedding?  We have been to the resort before, and we are getting married there in April, we didn't see anywhere that a beach wedding would work!  Is it just out on the wave breaker next to the Gazebo?

Hey Christine,

We are getting married in May of 2017. Close to yours. There are so many details that are hidden. I wish it was easier to figure out. I think we are going to do the free wedding package and add on to the package. We are thinking of renting the beach and dj after the dinner. Does anyone know if you can pick where on the beach you can set up? Is it close to a bar in order to eliminate that extra open bar cost?

We are getting married May of 2017 too. Gosh there are so many questions I have. We are May 5th at 4:30. Which date are you? Have you found any useful information?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
