Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies I just got married at the Grand Bahia Runaway Bay and it was amazing. Yes at the beginning it was hard communicating with the resort but keep in mind they have hundreds of brides and about 5 wedding coordinators working hard. I brought all my decor and centre pieces with me which worked out really well. I did the unforgettable package which came with a steel drum band at the wedding and a DJ at the reception which was so great everybody loved it. I paid extra for the upgraded flowers for bouquets which was worth the extra $200 for two bouquets. They decorated the gazebo which was included in my package. The two tiered wedding cake was delish coconut and vanilla. My wedding coordinator did everything for use. It was really eat and totally stress free. I will post some pics asap.

So beautiful. You looked gorgeous!

Where was the wedding? Pisces? The flooring is not wooden as in the pictures they sent me previously (However they did tell me in December that they had recently redone the Pisces restaurant to make it rain-proof).

Thanks for sharing!

Hey TorontoGal yes I had my reception at the Pisces, they totally re did the whole restaurant and snack bar area. The area you see in my pic is a separate tented area a couple feet away from the Pisces. We ordered our food from the Dolce Vita, the stuffed chicken, I would highly recommended it.

Beautiful pictures! My wedding will be somewhere between 30-50 people in May 2017. Just had a few questions!

1. Would you recommend any outside photographers or videographers as the hotels seem super expensive!

2. Do you need seating charts and table numbers? Or does everyone sit where they want at the Pisces?

3. Did anyone provide a dress code for men? Was reading there was some restaurants that's don't allow shorts.

4. What is the Max number of ppl before you have to get private reception?

5. Did anyone bring fake flowers? Would you recommend this over the resort?

Hey @@Hydewedding

We used the resorts wedding photographer Tropical One, we had Adrian and he was sooo good, we were very happy. If you want to use a local photographer they will charge you $500 to allow them on the resort for the day.

2: I only had 21 people so we had four tables and I drew out a table seating for the wedding coordinator to place name cards on the table. I would recommend having table number and a chart if you have alot of guest.

3:If you do a private reception, which we did it doesn't matter the number because u have to pay to rent out the entire restaurant. If you have your reception at one of the al la carts, yes there will be a dress code, shoes and pants for the men.

5: I would not bring fake flowers. I ordered flowers with the wedding coordinator when we were there with her, they have a book of hundreds of flowers and arrangements to pick from. My flowers came out beautiful, I was very happy. I will add a pic of my flowers. We also purchased flowers for out center pieces too and they were great.

Any other questions let me know cheers

Candace

Hello ladies,

glad I found this forum. I am planning my wedding at the GBP for April 4, 2017. I am having a hard time getting a response back from the wedding coordinator, in fact she has not responded to any of my emails or answered when my travel agent calls. I did however get a response from the manager at the resort to provide packages and pricing and let me know they had availability on my requested date. I responded back that I would like to go ahead and book now waiting on confirmation. How quickly did others get responses back? What is the next step?

Hello,

We have requested to have a beach wedding but have not been given any information such as having music played there, whether there is some type of platform to walk on, if the arch is included? Our wedding is November 2016 and I'm feeling anxious as there are so many questions to be answered.

If anyone has some insight on this it would be greatly appreciated :)

We are doing a beach ceremony as well and reception at dolce vita. The experience has been pretty good, been a lack of information though. For your ceremony, have you chosen an arch/huppa? and is it included or what are the associated costs (if any)? I have not got a definitive answer on any of this. How has your experience been thus far?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
