Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

From what I have read, the Picis has the most tropical feel as it is right on the beach and its open air. I agree with you about photography, I have a friend who does it as a hobby so he has offered to take pics. I can't justify thousands of dollars!! I like your style about the hair and makeup. I think I am going to do the same!

Wedding is booked for Oct 29th 2015....around 30 guests. We are booking the gazebo for 2 hours after dinner for a little reception. Not sure if we should go with their dj or have our own playlist on the ipod in a bose dock.Any advice???

I decided to just go with the photographer at the site, their facebook page show some pictures and they've really improved. I don't want to pay the vendor fee and don't want to rely on friends and family photos.

I think i'll just do my own hair / makeup. With a few test runs at home to see how best to do it. I'm going away to make this wedding easy and painless, so worrying about the spa and having to spend the money doesn't interest me. I've heard great reviews about the spa, but also negative ones and don't want to take a chance.

I've already stressed about the amount of people actually going and may cause me to shut down a restaurant I don't want to stress about the little details.

What are the 2015 brides planning for their days? Did you rent the gazebo or a full restaurant?

I want to know what people thought about the piscis? Did it feel tropical still or similar to a reception like we have at "home"?

The Pisces is completely open air. During the day it's where you get jerk chicken. it's the lunch time hang out. It's right near the water. Strongly recommend bug spray. If you have it rented for the evening they will close it down to everyone else and it's very pretty with the lights strung.

I would highly recommend Raschel Edwards for hair and makeup. She's extremely popular and does the air brush. You can have her onto the resort for a day pass the last I heard. Don't do the spa unless you're prepared to be very strict with them and be very vocal. They have a tendency to overdo it. The hair spray they use though is magical. They call it cement because it's guaranteed your hair won't move and a word of warning. The gazebo is very windy especially for April brides. it's nice in the heat because you get a breeze but for veil ladies, get weights. Your veil will be all over the place usually in your face. We got married in October and we had an afternoon shower but if didn't last long. A one o'clock ceremony was all we could get and it was hot. Really hot. I don't have any good things to say about the resort photographers. The prices are outrageous and the packages suck. The Dolce Vita is very popular and the food has been excellent. Don't know if that has changed or not. The grill was very good too.

Don't know if that's useful to anyone or not. We loved the resort and the Jamaican people. We were in the new section which apparently now is Don Pablo and they charge extra for it. Too bad. Our room was phenomenal. If you look at my gallery some of our pictures are there.

Good luck ladies and happy planning!

At first I had a very hard time getting them to respond, but i purchased an international phone card and then I called and since then they have been very good at responding!

I have heard the Piscis is buggy so I will for sure bring some bug spray for my guests.

I have a friend who does photography as a hobby and I am just going to use him. He isn't a pro so they can't charge me, and then if the resort photogs suck, at least I have his to work with.

I have 5 months to go, time is flying!!!

So some handy info ladies, you now can scan and email your notarized birth certificates and passports to the planner. I just sent in our notarized long form BC's and didn't know we had to do passports too. At least saving the money on couriers!!

Hi ladies! I am so glad i found this site! I am getting married in just under 2 months at the Bahia Principe. I honestly wish that I had seen these posts before I signed on to get married there. I am experiencing the same things as most of the posts here..I would love to hear from anyone who had over 100 guests.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
