Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Here's another picture I found. I don't think this picture includes much upgraded decoration either (just the chair sashes) 400

A friend of mine is at a wedding right now at this resort, she posted a couple of pictures on facebook. It doesn't look like they added any decorations or upgraded. It looks great as it (maybe a bit dark but that could be the photo). I've attached one picture of the head table. The other picture had the bride and my friend in it. I didn't want to post it on here without permission, specially since the bride may be a part of this forum. *

Hey ladies! So I'm finally getting serious with this wedding planning now, March 3 2014 is the big day! I've read some posts about the piscis being bumped up to $2500 instead of $1700... I have booked this as well and that's what price she gave me too... I guess we'll see if she bumps it up!! I was wondering if anyone had any information on what kind of decor they have at the resort. I think my ceremony is going to be on the beach beyond the gazebo and I would really like to have a wedding arch. Does anyone know if they keep any of these around? I've done some research with no luck so far. I have a feeling ill just be bringing my own. I would love to be able to use the gazebo but we have 14 in our wedding party and I feel like it would look kind of squished... And I like the look of everyone lined up on either side (call me traditional but oh well lol). I can't wait to have this all planned and ready to go!! Ahhh!!

Hi if you send me your email address I can send you some pics that i received of the piscis.  It is a covered outdoor area right by the beach.  They do decorate it with mini lights on the trees but you can add lanterns etc if you want to add some colour.  It's a beautiful setting as I was there on vacation just this April.  You will get beautiful sunset shots.  It is quite informal, but  the view to me is what made me choose it for my reception.  Also it's private, away from most things.  There is a bar there too.  If your looking for more formal then I would suggest the Italian restaurant which is right next door.  I have pics of that too.  The Italian restaurant is indoors, they have a little section off to the side which they reserve for weddings etc.  It's away from the main resort guests.  If you don't want to pay for the Piscis, but still want that private feeling then this would be the way to go.  The steakhouse is not private at all......i did not like that.....however I liked the food there.  If you rent the Piscis, yu can choose your menu from any of the restaurants.  Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone!

Of course if a bride is ever having trouble I will step in and deal with the resort but I always tell my brides I handle the travel and am here for any extra help if needed but I feel a middle man between a resort wedding planner and yourself just adds more stress. I'm glad your dealing with the resort yourself now and can get things straightened out :) however I would file a complaint with that agent because that's certainly not good service for your big day!

Hope it all falls into place :)

The  upgrade gaurantee could be to royal golden or diamond club.  These are upgrades but separate from the Don Pablo.  You have to be booked into the Don Pablo to get those Don Pablo upgrades.  I was there in April it was $25.00 per person per day for upgrades from Regular Grand Bahia to Don Pablo section.

We leave for our wedding 60 days from today! It doesn't even seem real. I feel like I have most things done, and yet SO MUCH to do. Eek!

DENA!? Can you believe it?

I know Mel!!!

I am slightly starting to freak out.  I am in the midst of finalizing the rooming list with the travel agent and getting the final balance taken care of, that sucks :(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
