Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I was wondering if anyone out there had a slightly larger wedding (60-80 people) and opted for the private reception?  I have the gazebo booked for the ceremony at 4pm followed by a cocktail hour and then the private reception.  Did anyone else opt for this?  If so, how did it go? The package I am booking comes with 2 hours of open bar.  Did anyone else have this?  Did they close the bar down right after the 2 hours or were they a bit more flexible?

Does anyone have any photos of their private reception they could share so I could see how the room is laid out?

Thanks!

Oops, this was my first post and I screwed it up a bit the first time.  Here is my response :)

I am planning on getting the Romance Extravaganza because I also like the open bar feature and the cocktail hour.   I did the math on it (with approximately 60 people) and it was wayyy cheaper to get this package than to even just have the cocktail hour.  I was stressing out before this package came out because it was really important to me to have both the cocktail hour and open bar.

I'm doing the same! I'll have about 60 as well. We weren't going to pay for the open bar or cocktail hour because it was going to cost so much. This package makes it a lot more affordable. We were also planning on forking out the extra 400 for the steel drum band but now it's included! Woot!

I also love the guaranteed room upgrades and VIP treatment for us and our parents. the other packages have a big upgrade (if available).  I think i'm going to leave the upgrades for the parents as a surprise until we get there :).

Where are you planning to have your reception? I'm having mine at the Piscis outdoors which is an extra 1700$ on top of the package apparently. I agree with you, I like the open bar and cocktail hour and the guaranteed upgrade (my parents will be very happy with that)

I'm doing the Piscis too! I think it's a beautiful setting. AND it includes the DJ for four hours unlike the other resturants. My mom actually called to speak with Someone a couple weeks ago. If you have Over 50 guests who HAVE to pay for a private dinner and the Piscis is cheaper than the private dinner at one of the restaurants. So it was an easy decision. 211 more days..... I feel like a kid on a long car drive, "are we there yet? Are we there yet".

Yes, I'm planning on having mine at Piscis as well!    I was so happy when this package came out because I feel like they read my mind on what I wanted in a package.

I wish the open bar was for the entire time though.  I'm not sure what we will do after the two hours :(

Lol I know exactly how you feel I can't wait for the day to finally be here! I was supposed to have my wedding in May 2014 but had to move it to October 2014... Even longer wait! :P

My thinking is to start the dinner/reception at 6:30 then have the open bar reception from 8:30 to 10:30. The disco opens at 12 so I figure those who want to continue the party can do so there.

We had our dinner at 630 and it pretty much lasted 2 hours so I think your timing is perfect.  I do think the disco opens at 11.  It did when we were there, but it may have changed.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
