Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hi GBP Brides! I'm new to the site! After doing some research, I've stumbled upon the site/thread.
There's so much good info! - Thanks girls! : )

Now, I seem to be having the crappiest time planning my wedding. We're looking to be a group of 30-40 people. So, I'm trying to figure out what to do after the ceremony. I've been corresponding with the wedding planner but I never get a straight forward answer. I also find myself speaking with a couple planners at a time and I feel like there's no moving forward. Anyone else feel this way when it came to corresponding with the resort?

ALSO! I'm looking to see what other brides out there did reception wise.

Thanks girls!! : )

A popular reception idea is to rent out the gazebo in the evening with a DJ, and have yourself a little dance party.

That's what I'm doing (same sized group.) I'm also going to have wish/sky lanterns at that time.

It wasn't included in the packages the year I was married, but they said it was always included at no cost.  They take you on a golf cart.

My mom and dad both walked me down the aisle.  You can do whatever you want.

My Dad passed away 10 years ago...  Do I have my Mother walk me down the aisle or do I walk it myself?  I have also considered having my fiance meet me at the start of the aisle and we walk the remainder together.  This is a second wedding for the both of us so we aren't too concerned about doing things 'traditionally'.  Thoughts??

Did you confirm that you are aloud to use the sky lanterns? I know many resorts do not let you use them since they are a potential fire hazard.

I am considering getting them as well but haven't checked with the WC if they permit them there.

I had the same issue with my original date.  I had called them and spoke verbally on the phone they said they would confirm and i heard nothing.  So i sent an email and they sent me an email with confirmation of my date.  Now i have it as proof in case of double booking.  I also sent another email weeks back and no response......i know they are busy.....but just a quick reply would be adequate and settle my concerns.  I just want to relax and let them take care of everything.......and I will,  once I get that email.  I might cut and paste the email and resend, and hope that will work.

Yes, I confirmed I can use biodegradable sky lanterns with the WC.

Hi everyone.  I'm getting married at GBP in May 2014 and I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has had a bigger wedding there and booked the private dinner?  I'm not talking huge wedding, but we are expecting about 75 at this point and I just want to hear some reviews on the bigger weddings and the private reception.

Thanks!

I am planning on getting the Romance Extravaganza because I also like the open bar feature and the cocktail hour.   I did the math on it (with approximately 60 people) and it was wayyy cheaper to get this package than to even just have the cocktail hour.  I was stressing out before this package came out because it was really important to me to have both the cocktail hour and open bar.

Oops, this was my first post and I screwed it up a bit the first time.  Here is my response :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
