Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

If you want the tapinaki tables for mikado then be aware that they only seat 10 people in each room so if your bridal party is larger than this then you may want to rethink this. As for the rest of the options it really depends on how many guests you have. Don Pablo is amazing yet they only have table of four and are a very intimate setting as they cook many of the meal options table side. This would be best for a romantic dinner. Dolce Vita is good and they may be able to accommodate a large group depending on if there is a wedding group in the larger room or not be be aware that there are many sand flies so wear bug spray! Apart from that the food is good. The Grill for us was not enjoyable, it did not have any A/C and was very uncomfortable to try and eat in. The food was over cooked and many thought the buffet was better. For my stagette, my bridal party arranged for the large tables to set up in the main buffet and our service was excellent. Everyone found something they enjoyed and for the larger groups there is more room thus you don't feel like your taking over! The Palmyra buffet is also a good option if you want a more intimate setting. It is generally quieter than the main buffet but is only open on busy nights. Also keep in mind that they have a very limited buffet, basically a mini version of the main buffet. Needless to say my vote for the large group dinner with all guests would probably be the buffet or Dolce Vita. Hope this helps!

I cant decide between Don Pablo, Dolce Vita, or The Grill, or are there any other  options? I know I want to do Mikado with my bridal party the evening before the wedding, so that one is out.

Thanks ladies

Thank you so much everyone for all of the quick responses.  I cant believe its just over a month away!!!

I'm trying to get everything that I need online in the next couple of days so that it gets to me in time. I want to get some more bathing suits off of Victoria Secret, but they rake you over the coals with shipping and taxes!

We got chair covers, gazebo rental etc...so we just put the deposit down. Word to the warning, my sister is my TA and called before we sent the money just to confirm for the 100th time, turns out they couldnt even find my file for a few days, so they hadnt booked me in. I confirmed through all the emails that we had been sending, eventually they got back to us, and they had found it. thank god. so we got a confirmation email, and will be printing it off and bringing it with us. There was also a mix up about which time I wanted -- i booked for 3pm, and they had me in for 4pm. So double check everything ladies, and keep those emails!!!!!!

I wanted to ask -- im looking for invitations for my at home reception, any advice on inexpensive, nice looking invites? Geez!! It really adds up!!!

Im sure Im going to ask lots more questions, its only a few months away!!! Lots of last minute planning, especially with xmas coming. busy busy!

Thanks!!!

I used Vistaprint for our "At Homes". We had ours 2 weeks after we returned from Jamaica. They have a ton of styles either in a folding card or a flat style. I used the flat and you can edit it however you want with colours, fonts, etc.  I think mine totalled about $35 for the number we needed. they turned out great and were just what I wanted.

If you are ever in Calgary, The VS Store in Chinook Mall commonly has bathing suits. Not sure if many are left at this point but they are one of the only locations that actually carry the bathing suits in Canada.

I leave in less than ONE MONTH! Ive been going through my lists like crazy, and I may have asked some things before, or it may have been mentioned on here already, but any help would be appreciated!

1. How do I book rehearsal dinners/welcome dinners, through email? Welcome dinner at the Grill, and rehersal at the big buffet???

2. I am having my wedding dinner at Dolce, will be using my bouqets as center pieces. Do I need to bring vases for table, or any other decorations, like candles?

3. Any tips about this resort...Im making a booklet/guide for the guests, putting tips in, like, try the "Purple Rain" drink....and about tipping...where the best beach is....etc, is there anything else anyone has heard or had expeirence with?

Thanks!!!

And by the way -- ladies, be careful with these wedding co-ordinators. I had a huge blow out with them...I booked my wedding at 3pm since the beginning stages...Ive sent 2-3 emails confirming the time of the wedding, and always was told I have the time correct. Then, they sent my TA (who is my sister) the details, with wedding at 4pm...we sent emails saying "no its booked for 3" they sent emails bak stating they never confirmed 3pm with me, even though I kept all the emails with PROOF! we sent the proof off to them, and still they denied it, and came back with the excuse that 4pm was a better time anyways, and that another bride was booked for 2 pm so it would be to rushed to have mine at 3. They also said that they "checked" with Chandyln (who I had been emailing with) and said she never said any of that, even though I HAD THE EMAILS PROVING IT! I was about to give up alll hope and go with 4pm, when RANDOMLY I recieved an email from Chandyln saying that she was on vacation for  the week, and she was just sending out an email to let me know my wedding was at 3pm. Very confusing -- very dissapointing -- disorganized. Im just hoping my wedding didnt screw up this other brides wedding....and im hoping mine is indeed at 3pm , as my invites say 3pm.

I hope everything goes fine when Im down there -- all the other brides say there is nothing to worry about. fingers crossed.

You leave so soon! You must be getting so excited!!

I never brought any table decor as to us it wasn't that important to have to haul everything down there.  They put tea lights all along the table though which made it look nice.  We used our bouquets to add a little more color and it was perfect.  I think if you want more table decor you will need to bring your own, but otherwise it is just fine without.

Tip about the resort: It is HUGE!!  Prepare to do a lot of walking, therefor bringing only heels (like one of my guests did) is not the greatest option.

I had problems with the wedding coordinators as well with my ceremony time.  I had confirmed with them multiple times my wedding was to be at 3pm.  When we got there they said it was confirmed for 4pm.  I didn't feel like arguing with them so we had a 4pm ceremony and it was perfect.  They also told me they do a wedding at 2pm so to have another at 3pm would be rushing to change ceremony decor, and get them out of there so we could have our wedding so we undersoon the reasoning.  Id say an hour won't really make a difference in your wedding day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
