Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Glad I could help.  I was like that too, I wanted all my questions answered so I could relax and be as stress free as possible (which everything was!) before going.  I beleive I tipped $20 to the lady that did my hair/makeup, so that is reasonable.  Instead of a monetary tip for the wedding coordinators we brought them soap and lotion from bath and body works.  They seemed to love that.  As to our photographer we did tip him because we feel he went above and beyond.  He stayed for our dinner and took more pictures at our reception when he was supposed to leave before dinner.  I guess its personal preference if you feel they went above and beyond then yes, I would tip them something.  And just remember, even a $5 tip to them is a lot of money!

I bet none of our guests have thought to request separate beds! That could be interesting for the lads that are sharing!!! Ha ha, I'll let evety1 know they should speak to the tour operator before they travel. Thanks for the explanation regarding tips, I understand now. :-) would you say $20 is a fair tip for having my hair & makeup done? And $20 each for the 2 wedding co-ordinators? Do we need to tip the photographers too? confused.gif

I definitely am glad that we chose a wedding abroad, I dread to think what a bag of nerves I would be otherwise! This way I can allow myself to get excited because I have very little to worry about. Although if I hadn't of found this forum and got all of your help I think I would be panicking tenfold! So thank you so much :D that's a great idea about the lotion sets for the co-ordinators, I'm in England so perhaps I will get them something from Lush which does the most amazing bath accessories - you only have to walk down the road the shop is on and you can smell the gorgeous aromas. Thanks for the heads up! I hope you're enjoying married life and life is treatin you and your family well. No doubt I will be back with more questions at some point! Ha ha. X

Yes they have a pressing service but it will cost you about $90 US to have done.  Simpler just to hang your dress in the bathroom with the shower on hot and steam it up that way. then just hang it. plenty of places in the room to hang your dress.

Does the hotel have a wedding dress pressing service or did you all just hang your dresses in your room as soon as you arrived for the creases to drop out ?

I agree with the Davids Bridal. Mine was also chiffon with a train in ivory. they have a lot of styles that will work for destination weddings. two days before our wedding there was another bride from here that got married and her dress was taffeta. she didn't have any problems with being too hot. that was october but i don't think between april and october there is much difference. just a suggestion...

Hi ladies! I am looking for a videographer for my wedding. Has anyone used anybody in Jamaica and if you have can you please post the video or the link? And if you have names of videographers and prices that would be awesome! Thank you so much!

We used Roxroy Gough of RGWeddings. he was terrific and the price was very reasonable. he was with us the entire day and did both a short "highlights" video as well as one of the entire day/ceremony and covered both bride and groom. I can find the contact details if you want them.

I have 60 guests going so they can only offer me the Palmyra. They sent me pictures and it looks really well done which is a good sign. Has anyone had their wedding dinner there? She said we can have it with the Dolce Vita menu which is great.

I had my wedding dinner there because the Grill was being retiled so they closed it.  Here's the pic.  It's nice enough and would be fine for 60. We were only two plus our photographer so this is how they set up the table for us.

Hey ladies, my wedding is coming up fast, Jan 2013!! BAH! I just wanted to put my two sense in. I am also going with the free wedding package, and I had to give them a deposit for my wedding. We got chair covers, gazebo rental etc...so we just put the deposit down. Word to the warning, my sister is my TA and called before we sent the money just to confirm for the 100th time, turns out they couldnt even find my file for a few days, so they hadnt booked me in. I confirmed through all the emails that we had been sending, eventually they got back to us, and they had found it. thank god. so we got a confirmation email, and will be printing it off and bringing it with us. There was also a mix up about which time I wanted -- i booked for 3pm, and they had me in for 4pm. So double check everything ladies, and keep those emails!!!!!!

I wanted to ask -- im looking for invitations for my at home reception, any advice on inexpensive, nice looking invites? Geez!! It really adds up!!!

Im sure Im going to ask lots more questions, its only a few months away!!! Lots of last minute planning, especially with xmas coming. busy busy!

Thanks!!!

I am trying to do a wedding day plan so people know whats going on that day, what time to be there, when/where is dinner. Just wondering if anyone has looked into or knows of any advice. While Im getting ready, I was going to tell people they can meet my fiance at a certain bar..or lobby or something to have a drink with him before they all head over to the gazebo.

Would you recommend any bars that they could all meet at?

Thanks

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
