Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

  • 2 weeks later...

I booked my date with Chandlyn as soon as I picked it. I booked it in May 2012 for July 1, 2013.  It doesn't hurt to book it early.

I have not chosen any of my package details or any extras yet because it is all dependent on how many people are coming. I have given people an RSVP date of End of November 2012 - that gives us plenty of time,I would think, to pick a package and finalize all the details. Seems like everytime I email Chandlyn I get confused about something else.I might just opt to call her when I really get into planning.

I haven't started looking for a dress or anything yet, but in the fall there are lots of bridal shows coming up and I will start going to those and getting inspired. We cant decide what my groom Mike should wear, we will probably go with a khaki/linen paints, white shirt and vest look as well. I think it would be super hot to wear a traditional suit.

SarahJ -Yes I kinda want a fun entrance, especially since we are probably going to have a good number of people coming ( 50+) and we will close down one of the restaurants. I want to try to add a few personal touches to the day if I can. Nothing to over the top but we have a few ideas.

No Mic is provided, no speakers provided and not sure about the DJ we didn't have them there. Just an FYI tell guests to wear bug spray in Dolce VIta as there are tons of gnats/mosquitos. You don't notice while dinner is going but after you leave they seem to attack. Also watch out for the IPOD dock if you choose to bring one. We brought one with us for the same intent gave to Donnalee as requested the day prior and somehow it went "missing". Not sure how that happened as they had an entire suitcase filled with stuff. Also as an FYI take any decorations / cake with you when you leave the restaurant. They do not offer to give anything back nor will they help you bring things to your room. The wedding coordinators do their jobs well but you can never find them when needed and are not present at all during dinner.

Me and my fiance are opting to do a private reception, because we are expecting close to 50 people and think it would be worth it.

The price I was told includes the Restaurant ( Dolce Vita)for 4 hours and the DJ for 2 hours.

Does anyone know if they will set up a microphone for speeches and if the DJ will be there for the entrances? Me and my fiance and our bridal party want to enter to specific music! haha

If the DJ only shows up later then I will need to bring some sort of IPOD dock or something for the music.

Thanks

We never took our decorations or cake with us when we left the restraunt.  We picked up our wedding decorations the next day and everything was there.  They also put the remainder of our cake in our room and we never asked.

Hi exquitite02,

First off, congratulations on your special day....terrific pictures!!  I was curious where you got your starfish for the chairs from??  I have been searching everywhere and have had no luck.  I recently started searching for them online but am nervous to order from some of the sites.

Past Brides -  how long did it take you to get your marriage certificate in the mail? I have heard of some people getting married in the states before they go and writing in the date they got married on their certificate? I don't know if you can do that or if it is legal...but anyway they did that because they were scared their married wouldn't be legal in the states or they wouldn't get their marriage certificate back in time. I just wanted to know! Thanks! ;-)

It took a little over two months to receive our marriage certificate.

If you get legally married in the states then you can't get legally married in Jamaica and vice versa.

Hello Destination Brides,

I have purchased my Totes for the Welcome bags, and have no idea where to start in terms of decorating them. Iron on transfers won't work...and I was thinking of adding a pretty tag and perhaps a pretty flower..!  Then I thought of it may end up coming off during the packing and traveling.! Here is a picture...ideas welcomed...!

These are great! Where did you find them? I have looked for something like this at every dollar store in edmonton!

I still haven't gotten mine, but Donnalee emailed me last week to confirm my mailing address and has assured me it's on the way.  I was married at the end of May!  SLOW!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
