Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Congrats!  You're going to love it!  It wasn't as hot as I thought it would be in my dress.  Mind you, mine was organza, so a very light material.  But once you get down to the gazebo there is such a nice breeze that you forget all about the heat!    I think I ended up wearing my dress for about 9 hours... but it really just depends on what time your wedding is at.  Mine was at 4pm so I was in it at 3:30pm and wore it until after our reception party at the gazebo at midnight.  I finally changed into regular clothes and headed to the disco.  Then I got back into it the next morning for my TTD session for a couple hours.  But everyone there is so lovely and you'll get compliments everywhere you go in it!  The lobby, the terrace, on your way down to the gazebo... strangers just can't help but tell you how great you look and wish you their congrats!   If I could have, I would have worn it every day for the remainder of our vacation for that reason alone!!

My fiancee and I visited Gran Bahia Principle last July and had an amazing holiday - gorgeous resort, brilliant atmosphere and trips and just a truly fantastic time. We got engaged last November and are now planning are wedding for July 2014 at Gran Bahia Principle. I have read through most of this thread- thanks for all the advice and wedding pics which have been shared.

Just wondering if you could answer a couple of questions about wearing your wedding dress in Jamaica- How did it feel? How many hours could you wear it for?

Thanks!

I agree!!! Right from the minute I left my room to the minute I took the dress off I was recieving so many compliments.  It was so nice of complete strangers to congratulate us and wish us a happy marriage, not to mention how pretty they told me I looked haha!  I would have worn my dress all the rest of the days if I could have!

Hi everyone!

My fiance and I are considering getting married at this resort in June2013. We are looking to have the private reception. I was curious if anyone has found there to be any hidden cost, or extra charges for anything that wasnt stated in the wedding packages? Also Does anyone know about the premium drink that arent included with the all inclusiveness of the resort? Is that just top shelf  or is that mixed drinks? Thanks guys!

Hello Ladies!!! Its been almost 2 months since I got married at the Gran Bahia Principe & it was amazing. I don't have the time or energy right now to write up a review but I did want to show you that I have an album on my page with some of the wedding pics. It was absolutely beautiful and everything went great. The wedding planners were helpful & so was everyone else. I hired my photographer based out of Negril and he was AMAZING. Looking at the pics you will for sure see that =) I promise I will write something up sometime soon, the only advice I can give right now is DO NOT STRESS!!! You are planning a destination wedding for a reason, you will get there and plan everything at that time. It really is so simple and stress free, as long as you treat it that way. TTYL!!

Hi Ladies,

I am getting married at this resort in May 2013,and really can't wait.

Me & H2B are eloping to get married, am looking forward to out little 'secret' wedding.

I have so far come across 2 cliches, which i wasn't informed of at the time of booking.

1) If we want to organise our own photographer,we will be charged US$800 by the hotel for the privilege.

 &

2} I want to book Rashel Edwards for Hair & makeup, but the hotel now advises me that a US$75 day pass will be required for her.

Considering we are not making use of the full package we have paid for ie bottles of champagne for upto 25 guests, meal for upto 25 guests,i feel these charges are a bit of a cheek.

I have heard mixed reviews on the resort photographer, but just can't warrant paying extra$800 ontop of quite expensive photographers fees.

On a different note, have any of you ladies written/used your own wedding vows in the ceremony? If so.do they have to include any mandatory wording,or is the legal part left down to the minister.

Thanks

Anna x

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
